24.01.2022 Does anyone know who put this died tree on the track?

23.01.2022 Not the Silver Streak (1976) Directed by Arthur Hiller and starring by Gene Wilder, Richard Pryor, and Jill Clayburgh; nor the Silver Streak (1934) Directed by Tommy Atkins and starring by Charles Starrett, Sally Blane, Hardie Albright, William Farnum, Irving Pichel, Arthur Lake, and other famous actors and actresses, but the Silver Streak train at the Ida Bay Railway. According to 12CSVT*, the Silver Streak was originally from the Lake Margaret Tramway and initially prese...rved by DVR member Ted Lidster. It originally had side loader bus style bodywork, but whilst in storage, the original bodywork deteriorated to such an extent it was demolished, leaving just the under frame. The current body was home-built by TTMS member David Beck, hence the "Beck" plate on the grill. Over years, the train was teared apart and needs a full restoration, so that it could be put back on track again. If there is any individuals or groups interested to set the history and take the restoration project, please send message to [email protected] with your proposal of time line and budget required for completion of the mission.

21.01.2022 Rebuilding the turntable at the station to it's original status has always been wanted by the public, and now it's on the way to be revealed not far away, you will be able to see how the little train will be doing a U turn without going through the loop. Thanks for the friends group of the Ida Bay Railway, you have done a magnificent job.

19.01.2022 Professional and Dedicated painter to give a second coat on these chairs.

19.01.2022 good work by all

17.01.2022 Apologize for all the customers who has booked the Rail Bike in September, the service will not be commenced in this month, all your bookings will be refunded in THREE days. Currently, the Ida Bay Railway has the turntable project half way done by the Friend's Group and still waiting for the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service to allow us to continue and finish it, so that the Ida Bay Station will be cleared from any obstacles, and provide everyone a much safer and enjoyable... platform to get on and off the train. Also, the Safety Authority came last week, had checked the newly built Rail Bike (the first and only pedal & battery powered Rail Bike in Australia) and the railway infrastructure, we also waiting for their response as well. As you all know the railway industry is so much regulated in Australia for your safety, we have to take all the measurement to guard that. Hope you will be patient and same as us, happy to wait. Definitely it's worth it. We will inform you all with any update. Meanwhile, you can sign up to our newsletter at: https://idabayrailway.com.au//ida-bay-railway-ride-booking/

14.01.2022 Bender's limestone quarry on the Marble Hill at Ida Bay, looks mysterious in the morning sunshine.

12.01.2022 Good morning to all the visitors who are interested on the railway. We currently receive a lot of inquiries about the operation time, and also a lot of complaints about the waste of time coming down this way as they UNaware of the closure beforehand. We apologize for not announcing the closure properly. We thought we are not important in the Huonville region for visitors coming to this beautiful area, and don't want to disturb people's travel plans as well. But obviously w...e were wrong, many of you coming to this region specifically for the railway, we thank you and apologize for the disappointment caused. However, we have noticed for all of you who have complained and will send a 50% discount voucher for your next visit hoping that will somehow to compensate and show our appreciation. Here we announce that, the rail operation will be continuing closed until further notice. We will try our best to resume hopefully in October 2019. There are still lots to do and see here which you can check with the Huonville, Geeveston, and Dover visitor information center, but If you didn't plan for other activities or places to visit in Huonville region, you can save one and half an hour and not coming to the southernmost of Tasmania, but turn to the northern Tasmania where also fabulous for your holiday. We do wish you can visit us in a later time and share this notice to anyone who you think might need to know. All the best and safe journey. - 11 Sep 2019

11.01.2022 We are paying about $1.75 per liter here for diesel today, while the Victorian only pay about $1.35, does anyone know the reason? #pulsefmtas #themercury

06.01.2022 Another working bee today for some maintenance on the grass land, native garden, historic shed, and most importantly rebuilding the turntable. Thumb up, the Ida Bay railway friends' group/
