25.01.2022 Enjoy those breaks whenever you can get them.

25.01.2022 Something important to be aware of... Did you know that your pelvic floor does not push your baby out; it’s your uterus that pushes the baby out. So, we simply need the pelvic floor to relax and just move out of the way! But how we breathe can affect the tension or the release of our pelvic floors.

24.01.2022 All birth is amazing.

24.01.2022 Lots of great ideas to boost your body’s natural happy chemicals.

24.01.2022 Interesting read.

22.01.2022 Welcome to the last of the August babies. Little Arlo is happily snuggling with his mummy and daddy.

22.01.2022 One of the most vulnerable times in our lives is when our babies come along. Be that friend, or sister that checks in. Often we may assume someone "looks okay,..." when scratching beneath the surface they may just be holding it altogether by a thread. Not just for new mammas, (and pappas!) but even those who it is the 2nd, 3rd, the overwhelm can be real! It could be someone who has sick kids, or perhaps experienced a miscarriage, or who is pain.... You are not alone, and there is amazing support out there! Today is R U OKay day. We would love to acknowledge the talent of @this_mama_doodles for her work illustrating and writing as a mental health advocate for mammas. Don't forget, A CONVERSATION CAN CHANGE A LIFE R U OK? inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with anyone who may be struggling with life. You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener. Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life: 1. Ask R U OK? 2. Listen 3. Encourage action 4. Check in. If you or someone you know needs help, follow the conversation up & get them to their local GP for support. LIfeline 24/7 crisis line: 131114. 21.01.2022 It's that time of year again.

18.01.2022 Birth trauma week begins today. The following stat can be dramatically reduced but first it need to be acknowledged. These are not current numbers for 2020 .Currently 33 - 45 per cent of women perceive their births to be traumatic (Beck, Driscoll & Watson, 2013)

17.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to all our super heroes. To the brand new daddies cuddling their newborns today, to the ones we have loved and lost, and the ones waiting to meet their babies over the next few months. We love and appreciate you all.

16.01.2022 Busy week. Welcome to little Georgie on Monday and baby Coen yesterday. All enjoying lots of newborn snuggles.

15.01.2022 "To put it simply Cheryl is a must have. As a health care professional myself the emotional support Cheryl provided really did create the ideal birth. This is such an important journey and you can lose focus, stress can creep in all the known knowns can become unknown. You need support, that's what makes the experience with a doula special. It's the emotional support the answers to those questions that google will complicate and only life experience can provide. Thank you for... the support Cheryl from the bottom of my heart you made the process uncomplicated. Your knowledge was exemplary and the care taken with Sarah though out the whole process was a game changer. For all the men out there don't think its easy look for support with Cheryl it comes in abundance. Angus ( thankful father of Georgina)" Gorgeous photo below of Angus enjoying his very first Father's Day with Georgina yesterday. Thank you for sharing your experience from a dad's perspective. 15.01.2022 For all my breastfeeding mums.

13.01.2022 Wondering why we are so passionate about skin to skin for both parents following birth...the answers are here. Your doula facilitates and ensures this process as it is her primary focus. She doesn't have distractions of documentation and clinical care. She protects oxytocin during labour and following birth. I love this focus on the first 1,000 minutes which then lead to a smooth 1,000 hours and 1,000 days.

11.01.2022 Birth trauma is whatever a woman or her partner says it is Unfortunately women and families are experiencing traumatic births. Let’s raise awareness this wee...k. https://www.birthtrauma.org.au/ #birthtraumaweek #birthtrauma #partnertrauma #birth #midwivescare

11.01.2022 Wanting to prepare for birth from home? This is a great option.

08.01.2022 Our new research, published today in the journal Birth, found babies born via medical or surgical intervention were at increased risk of health problems. These include short-term concerns such as jaundice and feeding problems, and longer-term illnesses such as diabetes, respiratory infections and eczema. There are times when intervention is necessary however these numbers are concerning. 50 percent of women are being induced and one in three are having caesareans.

08.01.2022 "On the day we welcomed Georgina into the world Cheryl was a huge part of why it was so successful and a positive experience for me as a first time mother." Head over to the ideal birth homepage to read the rest of Sarah's kind words. www.idealbirth.com.au Image: cute little Georgina who was born a few weeks ago.

06.01.2022 Thanks to Dahlas for this great info.

06.01.2022 Giving birth is an emotional experience, however it occurs. It brings up our past, our present and our dreams for the future. For most of us, somewhere among the emotions it evokes will be points of psychological vulnerability, for some even trauma. (Dempsey, Rhea. Beyond the Birth Plan. p.58) This book is a must read for everyone. Image: Marley, Ben and baby Evie born in June.

05.01.2022 Good information here.

05.01.2022 The birthing journey requires us as women to get back to a sense of life basics where our connection to intuition and instinct are normal, rather than a forgotten means of expression. When implemented in pregnancy and labour, the birth dance enables a woman to connect to her feminine source without fear or shame. Maha Al Musa, Dance of the Womb: The Essential Guide to Belly Dance for Pregnancy and Birth Image: Marley and Ben holding Evie moments after a very intuitive and instinctive birth with their first baby.
