25.01.2022 iDecide is the easiest way to safely and securely, store and share your end-of-life documentation and wishes. At iDecide we believe that you should organise your death so that you can live your life stress free. Did you know that only 59% of people in Australia of age have a Will? iDecide want to open the conversation about the importance of having all of your end-of-life documentation in order.... In Australia you do not have to register a Will with any authority, your responsibility is to inform your executor, and store the Will in a safe place, that’s it. iDecide is that place, somewhere that is safe and secure and where you can nominate your trusted people to know where your documents are and to explain what you want to have occur at your end-of-life. iDecide is launching to Beta Test in March - watch this space as we start to provide more details and invite you to become part of the empowered community managing their death to live their life. #iDecide #starttheconversation #endoflifemanagement #legacy #widow #lifemanager #manageyourdeathtoliveyourlife #widower #wills #powerofattorney #documentstorage #advancedcaredirective #eduringguardian #speakaboutthehardstuff #disrupt #deathtech #womenintech #womeninbusiness #ruralwomenibusiness #entrepreneur

25.01.2022 Deciding what NOT to do, is just as important as deciding what to do. We listened to a webinar by Innovation Bay this morning where the CEO of 99Designs Patrick... Llewelyn talked about what it is like to bootstrap a start-up. RegionalCollab as you might know are developing an online platform called IDecide and we are 'bootstrapping' this to the hilt - what do we mean by 'bootstrap' it means we are using our own funds to build the initial platform. One of the reasons to do this initially is that it forces us to think about what is important in the build, consider our potential customers more carefully and be more naturally constrained in our decision making. Sometimes too much of a good thing (in this case funding) can cloud your judgement. It's a tough gig building like this, but the momentum has already started to shift and we can see some light at the end of the tunnel. Nothing good or worth it was ever easy...right!

23.01.2022 What is palliative care vs end-of-life care? Palliative care is person and family-centred care provided for a person with an active, progressive, advanced disease, who has little or no prospect of cure and who is expected to die, and for whom the primary goal is to optimise their quality of life. End-of-life care is the last few weeks of life in which a patient with a life-limiting illness is rapidly approaching death. The needs of patients and their carers is higher at this ...time. This phase of palliative care is recognised as one in which increased services and support are essential to ensure quality, coordinated care from the health care team is being delivered. Palliative care can include assistance such as: Relief of pain and other symptoms; Access to resources such as equipment needed to aid care at home; Links to other services such as home help and financial support; Support for people to meet cultural obligations; Support for emotional, social and spiritual concerns; Counselling and grief support; Referrals to respite care services. Palliative care is provided where the person and their family wants, where possible. This may include: at home; in hospital; in a hospice; in a residential aged care facility. Many people indicate a preference to die at home and making this possible often depends on several factors, including: the nature of the illness and amount of care the person needs; how much support is available from the person’s family and community; whether the person has someone at home who can provide physical care and support for them. https://palliativecare.org.au/what-is-palliative-care

21.01.2022 An article co-founder Rechelle wrote for MamaMia about speaking honestly with children about death. A timely piece in the current environment, speaking honestly to children whether about death or what is happening in the world is really important. Do it in a way that makes you as a parent comfortable, honest communication is in our opinion what children need, to feel safe and secure.

20.01.2022 At iDecide we want to #starttheconversation about #deathpositive and #endoflifeplanning - there are so many things we should be talking about with our family and friends. It shouldn’t be scary or difficult it should be a normal part of life. iDecide will provide a safe, secure place to store your documents AND provide details to your loved ones of your wishes: image via @taxcollection

17.01.2022 iDecide is the one for all. The platform will provide storage for end-of-life documents but will also enable you to store all of your important papers. When you think about it life is full of paperwork from birth to death:... * Birth certificates * Car registration * Marriage certificates * Insurance * Mortgage documents * Share and investment paperwork * Medical documents * Wills * Advanced care directives * Enduring guardianship * Organ donation Instead of pushing all of these into the back of the cupboard, under the bed in a box, or poorly filed in your filing cabinet - you can upload and store copies of all of them in iDecide for easy access and use. We are here to be your life managers. #ruralwomeninbusiness #endoflifeplanning #lifemanagement #idecidemypath #idecide #insurance #wills #advancedcaredirective #organdonation #mortgage #birthcertificate

17.01.2022 iDecide - Empowering End-of-Life Decisions.

16.01.2022 I found this really resonated with me because it’s about planning, talking and managing your death. At iDecide we want people to no longer be afraid to have these end-of-life conversations, managing your death so you can celebrate and live your life that’s our mission at iDecide, it’s our why. #Repost @going_with_grace with @get_repost ....Inspired by @monachalabi 's words:... Over the past 30 years, funeral expenses rose 227%, while prices for all items rose by 123%. As a result, dying has gotten too expensive for many of the living. 16.01.2022 Our co-founder Rechelle Leahy wanted to share the below post, this is why she is passionate about iDecide, this is why she wants to make sure everyone has the conversation and plans for their end so they can live their life. It’s 5 years today since we lost Allistair, and I wanted to share the eulogy I wrote for him: ‘A stranger has knocked on our door and our hearts have been broken into a million pieces....Continue reading

15.01.2022 Powers of attorney A power of attorney is a document where you give someone else the legal right to look after your affairs for you. When making a decision to appoint a Power of Attorney it is really important that you nominate someone that is trustworthy, financially responsible, and likely to be around when you need them. There are different types of powers of attorney:... General Power of Attorney This type of Power of Attorney allows someone to make financial and legal decisions for you. It's usually for a specified period of time, for example, if you're overseas and can't manage your affairs at home. If you become unable to make decisions yourself, a general power of attorney becomes invalid. Enduring Power of Attorney An enduring Power of Attorney (or EPA) allows someone to make financial and legal decisions for you. If you become unable to make decisions yourself, an enduring power of attorney is still valid. Medical Power of Attorney This allows someone to make medical decisions for you if you ever become unable to do so yourself. It doesn't allow them to make other kinds of decisions.

06.01.2022 Say their name and remember their lives, those of us who live with loss love remembering and having others acknowledge their light in the world.

06.01.2022 So this last week has been pretty much a roller coaster and here at RegionalCollab we have put in place a few strategies to manage the overwhelm: (1) Routine, R...outine, Routine - it’s important to set a daily plan especially if you have kids at home now, home schooling; (2) Exercise - there are lots of online opportunities for yoga at home, workouts etc but just keep it simple a go for a walk to give yourself some time to breath and decompress; (3) Connect - even though we are all taking social distancing measures this doesn’t mean you need to be isolated socially, each week we catch up with friends to stay sane, check in on family and speak with each other - Zoom wines on a Friday anyone! Finally switch off if you need to - sometimes there is just too much information to take in. It’s ok to switch off and breath. What are you doing to manage the overwhelm? Comment below
