24.01.2022 Why is Remembrance day so special to Australians? On 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. Today 11 November is known as Remembrance day or Armistice Day and on the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minutes’ silence is observed and dedicated in Australia to all our soldiers who died fighting in all wars and conflicts.
