22.01.2022 The bushfires have focused our attention on Climate Change and we need to take action now, but this should have happened many years ago, and as I drive through the central west, I am reminded that a far greater portion of the state is ‘on its knees’ in need of rain. There are so many things to fix, it will take time, we must share our resources, our compassion, be prepared to listen, and learn new things, or relearn old things. Most importantly we need to remember that the fi...res are one outcome, but the impact to all aspects of our environment and communities is so much broader. The potential rain in these clouds will be welcome relief, but it is only relief until some form of balance is returned....change must start now, it needs to be significant, but it’s a long process of regeneration and sharing to extend well beyond the immediate social media focus. #forfuturegenerations See more

21.01.2022 We’re proud to announce that Susan Farrell and Tim Quirk commence a new role as Associates here at Integrated Design Group. We look forward to the leadership they will offer our team continuing to work towards our vision of Living Relationships in Built Form #associatearchitect #leadership #integrateddesigngroup #idgarchitects

20.01.2022 We’re excited to share our vision for the new entry at Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) care home, The Marian, in North Paramatta. This recently lodged development application transforms this large 80s institutional building, turning it into a collection of cottages, referencing the rambling rural farm houses that defined Parramatta's perimeter in years past. Creating a clear entry point and semi-public communal space, leading through to four private homes with their own backyards and courtyards spaces, the understated appearance conceals a significant transformation to a smaller, familiar and very residential scale. #architecture #agedcare #seniors #seniorsliving #dementia #designfordementia #residential #idg #idgarchitects #integrateddesigngroup #idginteriors #refurbishment #agedcarerefurbishment

19.01.2022 The importance of housing diversity, housing affordability and providing simpler paths to housing first, and one of the drivers behind the Queenscliff project with Landcom shared in our previous post. Older Women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness are increasing in numbers significantly and across all suburbs and communities, this article provides some good insight and background to the challanges, and leaves you wondering what the really number and need actually is...

19.01.2022 just preparing for Elton John’s arrival, 200m from the Bathurst office. So we stopped a little earlier today (you can see the office just right of the stage)... One of 6 regional concerts in Australia on his worldwide farewell Tour... why not choose Bathurst, Elton did!

18.01.2022 After reaching deadlock on a large development parcel, Joss engaged IDG to bring a 'local design eye' to modern development on a contentious heritage site at the entry to Bathurst's CBD. 12 months of collaboration with local heritage representatives and Council, together with insightful design and a keen understanding of the 'fabric' and 'texture' of Australia's Oldest Inland Settlement, Integrated Design Group has achieved enthusiastic and unanimous Development Approval from... Bathurst Regional Council for significantly more development of the site than previously refused in 2016. The 'secret' was in taking a wholistic view that provided public benefit, especially in heritage interpretation, as an offset against relaxation of some development standards that might otherwise apply to the precinct. The major component of the proposal, an impressive building of Serviced Apartments is used to instigate a 'movement economy' through the site and to help define a public plaza anchored between the 2 remaining heritage buildings - each adapted for great new uses. The 'rhythm' and 'form' of the heritage buildings echo across the site to influence the scale and articulation of the modern additions, without resorting to 'fake heritage' mimicry of craft and detail. 2000m2 of office space completes the precinct (and Bentinck St) and can be available as 1 large floor plate tenancy or a collection of smaller offices. The collaborative process and the outcome of modern buildings within Bathurst's valuable Heritage Conservation Area are strong exemplars for the future of the dynamic town. 18.01.2022 Reflecting today with the cooler autumn evenings reminding us that winter is approaching and with the current COVID19 situation the recent completion of our aged homeless project for Hammondcare on land as part of St Johns Darlinghurst could not have occurred at a more crucial time for the aged and vulnerable of inner Sydney #housing #vulnerable #homelessness #homeless #architecture #housingfirst #collaboration #agedcare #community #livingrelationshipsinbuiltform #hammondcare #stjohnsdarlinghurst #partnershipsforcommunity #care #careforoneanother #share #whatwillyoushare Josh Andren Andrew Elia Simon Thorne Hannah Humphrey

18.01.2022 Excited to share these images of the ‘village house concept’ we helped create late last year as part of an EMI team assisting the Tebow Cure hospital in the Philippines to develop a vision for medium term patient housing, near the hospital on a small urban in-fill site. 3 houses, 1 per level for up to five patients(children) and their carer, including a roof top garden and communal space. Most patients will be from rural areas, unfamiliar with lifts and AC, children will be... very apprehensive in this environment. Vegetation, a choice of stair or lift, natural ventilation through single room depth are all key to ensuring a familiarity, with the sense of fun one might find in the childhood creations of a tree house. #emi #emidesigninghope #tebow #idg #idgarchitects #integrateddesigngroup #architecture #villagehouse #tropical #tropicalarchitecture #biophilicdesign #hospitalarchitecture #naturalventilation #stackeffect #vegetation

15.01.2022 Great to be invited to attend Landcom’s affordable housing forum with a view to exploring new models and new delivery structures. 06.01.2022 We are excited to share a couple of images of the proposed refurbishment of Donald Coburn Lodge for Buckland in Springwood. The DA was approved early this year with works to commence on site in the next couple of months. The project involves the refurbishment of resident rooms and importantly recreates the small, dark and under-utilised common spaces into generous light filled living and dining rooms that frame views to the beautiful bushland setting that envelops the site. #architecture #idg #idgarchitects #integrateddesigngroup #seniors #seniorsliving #agedcare #idginteriors #refurbishment Andrew Elia Tim Quirk Josh Andren Simon Thorne
