22.01.2022 Dear SYDNEY students, As youre probably aware, a state of emergency has been declared in New South Wales due to potentially catastrophic bushfire danger forecast for today in some areas. Please complete the Emergency Google Form as soon as possible: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSde9rAyyS7WY6gOQ/viewform. If we dont receive a response from you by noon today (Sydney time), we will start attempting to contact you via text, Facebook messenger, WhatsApp etc. ... While it is highly unlikely that you will be directly impacted by any fire activity, your safety is our priority. We ask that you avoid travelling outside of Sydney or Wollongong at this time, and that you follow all instructions from authorities. Please stay put as much as possible today, and ensure that you have your phones charged in case we need to reach you. You can monitor existing warnings and fire activity here: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/fires-near-me or download the Fires Near Me App. Remember to avoid spending prolonged periods of time outside when smoke haze is present, keep your windows closed, and carry any necessary medications with you if you experience respiratory conditions such as asthma. Please dont hesitate to reach out to me or your SSCs if you have any questions or concerns.

19.01.2022 IFSA students Timothy Sears from Providence College, and Andrew Cecil and Jackson Cannon from Wake Forest Abroad, got involved with the local community by joining the Urbanest Cleveland Street basketball team, and they won the tournament. Tim said of the experience We had a blast and it was such a cool experience. Most of the players did not speak English fluently so we were forced to communicate in different ways and throughout the competition we formed a very unique bond that brought team chemistry and allowed us to win the tournament. Go team! #ifsa

17.01.2022 Today is Remembrance day, and marks 101 years since silence fell on the Western front. At 11am, we participate in a minute silence to remember those who have fallen to protect our country. Many Australians, both indigenous and non-indigenous, fought in World War I and it hugely impacted the country and its identity.
