25.01.2022 CLUB STATEMENT IFS Community Wolves welcome today’s announcement by the FFA regarding a restructure in next year’s FFA cup. Under the new arrangements, the winner of next years cup will earn a place in the Asian Champions League to take on the best clubs from across the AFC. IFS club president Cameron DeJong spoke today directly with AFC President Shaikh Salman and reiterated our club’s ambition of being the first All Age Division 2 Community League side to taste ACL victory... let’s face it, if the Wanderers can win the title then anyone can, we are confident in going all the way in 2021. While the club acknowledges that we are yet to score a goal in the cup, we were looking the goods this season before a world pandemic destroyed our amazing preseason form. Credit to the boys we know we can do it, our build up this year was great and our Grand Final victory is a credit to the boys and testament to our ability to deliver the goods on the big stage, real credit to the boys, Zac Fattore Club Captain. The IFS run to Qatar will start in early 2021, keep an eye out on socials for more details of matches.

24.01.2022 Big away day today at Rex Jackson Park Helensburgh with both of last years respective Premiers taking part across the two grades. Ressies fell just short following a brace to Adam Testa and now sit jut outside the top 4. First grade knocked off first place to now sit at the top of the table with 3 matches left. Can the boys go back to back and secure their second league title in as many years?

24.01.2022 Our club are incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Eddie Sulcs. Like many in our club, Eddie was a huge Wolves fan and was awarded Wollongong Wolves Football Club Clubperson of the Year in 1998. A loved member of the IFS Community, Eddie will be incredibly missed. Our thoughts go out to the Sulcs family.

24.01.2022 Over the past few hours, we are saddened to hear that two of our brilliant sponsors for 2020 have had to close their doors. To both Dapto Citizens Bowling Club and Genesis Shellharbour, we want to thank you for your ongoing support and encourage all players and fans to use the businesses that support us. We know both will be back bigger and better than ever and we can’t wait to join you soon!

23.01.2022 The Wolves had a party alright, a long....long party. 18 years of blood sweat and tears and the grand final hoodoo was broken. Thanks to all the fans, friends and family that came to support the boys, it was great to see plenty of ‘old boys’ amongst the crowd, this one was for you!

22.01.2022 Huge double header weekend for IFS with four games in 2 days against Uni. Taking home a total of 8 points with a 13-3 aggregate. Well done to all the boys who backed up in cold and blustery conditions with special credit to Michael Wiltshire for playing 5 games in 5 days. #thewolvesarehavingaparty

22.01.2022 To all our fans, supporters and followers. Unfortunately with this afternoon’s decision by the FFA to suspend ‘grassroots’ football, our FFA Cup clash tomorrow night at Ian McLennan Park will be postponed (yes, we hoped that playing on synthetic turf meant we were exempt from ‘grassroots’ but alas, it’s off). The club supports the decision of the FFA and knew that this was inevitable given the need to ‘flatten the curve’ and protect our community. IFS will always put the health and safety of our players ahead of all else and we look forward to getting back on the park in a months time. In the meantime, we send our best wishes to everyone during this difficult period, stay safe!

21.01.2022 We would like to congratulate Connells Point Rovers Football Club on advancing to the next round of the FFA cup. We thank you for your hospitality and providing us with the opportunity to test ourselves against quality opponents. Our maiden FFA cup win and this level of cohesiveness so early in the season is a whole club effort. Thank you to our supporters, coaches, players and Dapto Citizens Bowling Club for your investment on making this a club of passion, fun and inclusion. Onwards to another very successful season of banter, brotherhood and beer fitness.

21.01.2022 Half time at Poulton Park in the FFA Cup and your Wolves are destined to double the Wolves comeback against Perth Glory in the 2000 Grand Final

19.01.2022 A great strength and conditioning guide for all our players thanks to the best in the business over at Figtree Physiotherapy. We may not get on the park for a while but that doesn’t mean you can’t keep in tip top shape!

18.01.2022 Come one, come all (but no more than 500 please) to join us in the #magicofthecup next Wednesday night at Ian McLennan Oval in Kembla Grange. You may not be able to attend the A-League, EPL or Serie-A but never fear, the peak sporting excellence that is an FFA Cup local derby is here for you to enjoy. IFS Community Wolves vs Kiama Quarriers FC... Entry is free, kick off at 8:00pm, see you there!

17.01.2022 Two wins, 3-0 aggregate and 6 points. Great bounce back for the boys in red. Thanks to Dapto Citizens Bowling Club for hosting us again.

17.01.2022 Beautiful and true words by our Club President Cameron De Jong A man who’s hard work and dedication over the many years has helped this club to where it is today An IFS O.G. and man who’s passion for this club has no equal.... Thank you Cam for everything you have done and continue to do for this club. COYW IFSTID

16.01.2022 The challenge is out, who can beat our #stayathomefootball challenge?

15.01.2022 After a season of quarantines, injuries and washouts, we are shocked to find out that our home ground at Lakelands Oval has been destroyed for some short term joy by some brain dead individuals that put their own thrill ahead of community sport. While this puts our upcoming games in jeopardy, we are most saddened to think of the kids over at Dapto Phoenix Football Club who we share the ground with. The kids have only just started up the season and now may not get on for weeks until the fields are repaired and made safe. If anyone has any information on the culprits, please get in touch with the club or contact Wollongong City Council.

15.01.2022 Here is your starting line up

14.01.2022 Round 3 of the FFA Cup, Wolves travel to Connells Point Rovers in Hurstville, 23rd March 2021... 7:15pm Kick on Tuesday night.

11.01.2022 Unfortunately the scores didn’t go our way today. Ressies dominated possession for 90 minutes only to fall to a sole 40 yard screamer, 1-0. Firsts were down 2-0 early and fought back to 2-1 with 20 to go before conceding two late goals while chasing the point, 4-1. Big thanks to all the fans and ‘old boys’ who made it down today. It was a cracking display of support and we hope you see you all again soon. ... (Photo below of today’s crowd turnout)

10.01.2022 A classic South Coast away day today as the boys ventured down to leafy Jamberoo. The return drive was even sweeter with 6 points in the bag and a 5-1 aggregate. Shoutout to the 12 fans that turned out in a covidsafe show of support. #thewolvesarehavingaparty

10.01.2022 6 points, 5-1 aggregate and both teams into the top 4. Well done to the boys today, showed great squad depth for two big wins! #thewolvesarehavingaparty

09.01.2022 The Wolves have made history.. but we're not talking about about Luke Wilkshire's NPL giants. 08.01.2022 18 years without a grand final victory, 89 minutes elapsed, 1-1 is the score. The rest as they say....is history!

08.01.2022 After years of drought and a summer of bushfires and flood, our home ground is ready to host our first trial of season 2020. Big thanks to all those who worked so hard (both within our club and over at Dapto Phoenix Football Club) to get the field mowed, the lawn clippings raked and the lines marked over the past few weeks. Bring on season 2020!

06.01.2022 Official Club Statement

05.01.2022 First home game of the year and while the results didn’t go our way, it’s always great to get back to Dapto Citizens Bowling Club and remember why we play the beautiful game.

04.01.2022 Short staffed and 30degrees in the shade, Wolves have backed in 4 points with first grade locking in their place at the top of the table. 1-1 in ressies, 3-1 in firsts. Shoutout to ultimate clubman Tom McColl for putting in 180 minute stint across both grades!

03.01.2022 We can’t wait to get back in to Citos and toast many a victory this season.

02.01.2022 Shoutout to IFS legend Pietro Ruscica who misses today’s game (and maybe a few more) after suffering a wrist injury last week while falling badly in the 70th minute. Pete has been in for surgery yesterday and will cheer on the boys from Wollongong Private Hopsital today. Kickoff against Jamberoo is at Lakelands, 1 and 3. #winitforpete

02.01.2022 Great to launch the season with our new sponsors Dapto Citizens Bowling Club. Even if we end up playing behind closed doors with only essential staff in attendance, we look forward to toasting every win at our new home away from home.

02.01.2022 PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MAGIC OF THE CUP: COMMUNITY LEAGUE SURPRISE PACKETS CONTEMPLATE CUP RUN The FFA cup served up its first surprise last Saturday as IFS Community Wolves became the first Illawarra Community League Second Division team to win an FFA cup fixture. Hailing from Dapto, the spiritual home of Illawarra dog racing, the club is keen to let the competition know there is a new pack in town. ... The Wolves, who occupy the bottom tier in Illawarra football, are dreaming big after they triumphed 2-1 over Penrith-Nepean opponents St Mary’s SC at Lakelands Oval, Dapto. In a tight and entertaining affair, Tom McColl’s penalty proved the difference after the Saints’ Riley Gibbons cancelled out Leigh Sunshine’s first half goal for the Wolves. The result means that they join eight other Illawarra representatives in the third round. The achievement is all the more remarkable given the clubs humble origins as a pub league team of active supporter members from Wollongong Wolves supporter group, the Wolfden. Since then, the club has developed into one of the cornerstones of amateur football in the Illawarra and plans to branch into Masters and Women’s football in the coming years. The team has also aligned with Dapto Phoenix Football Club and their local watering hole, Dapto Citizens Bowling Club to promote junior football development in the region and are looking to stay true to those early beginnings as they grow. Club members are regularly seen cheering on football locally and internationally, volunteering, coaching and lending support to the region’s bid for an A-League franchise. Wolves president Cameron De Jong said This is one of our proudest victories since the club was founded as the Wolfden in 2003. We are ecstatic to represent the Illawarra region in this prestigious competition. We’ve witnessed so many incredible sporting stories unfold as fans, and it is wonderful to be able to write our own chapter in the region’s rich sports narrative. This is the culmination of the club remaining true to our core principles of passion, fun and inclusion. Next up is a midweek showdown with St George Premier League side Connells Point Rivers FC. It may look like a David versus Goliath proposition on paper, but the Wolves are confident. De Jong added We respect our opponents, but we aren’t phased by the challenge of playing against a team with bigger budget. We’re quite happy with our matchday payments of pies and tinnies. As they say in Dapto, every wolf has his day END Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Join the Wolves family as they embark on their national cup adventure.
