23.01.2022 Hanging Rock (with the obligatory stop at the cafe afterwards)

22.01.2022 **UPDATE** Soooo....I figured it was time for an update. Long time followers would’ve noticed things have been different around here this year. Firstly - no blogging. Honestly, I wasn’t loving it anymore, and it takes a lot of time behind the scenes (which is fine when you enjoy it...). I’m not say never again, but not for now.... I also cracked it and went off Social media for a while, after a particularly crowded day on one of my fave trails, full of people who were there to get the perfect selfie and paying no regard to their surroundings. I got over myself, and I’m back . I was overwhelmed with messages from people asking was I OK, so thank you! I haven’t been hiking as much either - partially due to some ongoing health problems that made me reconsider 2 trips I’d planned, and partially due to returning to full time working/commuting into the city. My son keeps me busy too (he’s into every sport imaginable!). I’ve been hiking whenever I can though, and have discovered a new found love of Reformer Pilates (holy cow!), spin and HIIT training. What’s next? Well, my health problems have (hopefully) finally been sorted out, and I’ve signed up to hike Machu Picchu in May next year (). My flights are booked and I have a trail permit!!! So, expect lots of posts on how I’m going with my training and preparation (I’ve never hiked at altitude!). Also, once again I’ll be raising money for charity as part of this trip, which includes a 40km one day hike that a group of friends and I are doing. Finally - after toying with different ideas over the years I’ve been blogging/had this page, I’ve returned to my original plan. Sharing my hikes in the hope that it encourages other people to get out there and give it a go, or keep on going. Thanks for following along (especially those who I haven’t met or hiked with!), and Happy Hiking

19.01.2022 Cracker of a sunset to celebrate me now having 10 days off work!!!!

13.01.2022 A great morning - 12.5k’s all up...but as you could see from my last post, not great photo weather! So here’s a photo of my snazzy new shoes instead. I thought my old ones were still fine (they look ok) but now I’ve felt what support the new ones have, I realise how bad they were!

12.01.2022 What a morning! So worth getting up at 5am for! I parked at Urquharts bluff, and walked back past Pt Roadknight, Anglesea, then up to the cliffs past Anglesea caravan park. I returned the same way. It was 20km all up - 10 of that was on the beach (the first 4.5km at high tide!).

09.01.2022 A beautiful sunset tonight as I’m getting ready to get up early for a hike tomorrow

07.01.2022 Halfway point (10km) and feeling great! #fluffyhairdontcare

07.01.2022 Good morning Tassie

02.01.2022 A perfect Saturday morning on the Surf Coast...a beautiful walk along the beach followed by a milkshake and a snot block (with passion fruit icing!!)

02.01.2022 Hi all, it’s been a while huh? Since I closed this page down I’ve had lots of adventures - some travel and hiking - and some life in general. I can fill this page, and my blog, with what travel and hiking adventures I’ve had. And I will - but first, this.... My latest challenge has been my health....having recently being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I’ve recently got back into hiking and am already feeling better for it. The physical results are jut a start. Mentally it helps so much too. I stumbled across this episode of a podcast I love, and it’s left me with a renewed sense of purpose. I hope you get as much out of it as I did. In it Rebecca goes into detail about how it feels to have fibromyalgia, what lead to her diagnosis, and what she’s overcome to achieve all that she has since the diagnosis (and it’s even more impressive that what she achieved before!). Even if you don’t have this condition, a lot of us have ongoing ‘niggles’ or health challenges, and Rebecca proves just what is possible. Love it. Enjoy - and Happy Hiking x
