25.01.2022 It's Early Learning Matters Week and it’s all about showcasing the important work that early learning centres do around the country in teaching our youngest one...s. One wonderful centre here in Wills is the Ilim Early Learning Sanctuary in Glenroy. I visited recently to meet with staff and students, drop off some new flags and inspect some fine art pieces made by students as part of their creative expressions exhibition, with the theme of belonging. Their ‘Wombat Stew’ creations were also very impressive! #EarlyLearningMatters

20.01.2022 At Ilim Learning Sanctuary- Dallas our educators are responsive to all children's interest and voice. Rainbow playdough was resquested by our penguin children, where they were engaged in sensory play, enriching learning together, stimulating their thinking and evolving their ideas and interest through choosing their favourite colours of the rainbow. When children's views are respected they feel safe, secure and supported to grow in confidence and to explore .

17.01.2022 During these times of uncertainty, continuation of education and learning is really important as we are striving to keep positive with our days in care. Ilim Learning Sanctuary- Dallas hosted a Pyjama Day to raise awareness for children in foster care. This was a great opportunity for children to dress up in their favorite PJ's, show recognition for other children in foster care and raise funds for the emotional and educational support they need to achieve their dreams and reach their full potential. With the money raised from National Pyjama Day, we will be supporting more than 1000 children in foster care with learning skills, fund educational resources and help provide stable, positive relationships. Thank you to all our staff, families and the community for your ongoing contributions and support.

16.01.2022 Nadege from Plantworm has inspired our children and staff to use natural resources as a way of expressing creativity. "Every child is born with an inherently strong attraction and connection to nature". Plantworm empowers the younger generation by cultivating their curiosity towards nature and their ecological environment, encouraging them to make the right choices towards a sustainable lifestyle for the greater good of the planet.... We are honoured to work in collaboration with Hume City Council and would like to thank them for organising this opportunity for our children.

14.01.2022 ILIM Learning Sanctuary Glenroy, new outdoor learning areas. Playing outside provides opportunities for young children to experience the world with all of their senses. Young children learn through the type of place or environment they are in. In outdoor spaces children can shout or be noisy, create bigger structures play games which require more expansive movements use their imagination in different ways, be more creative, messier and try out different activities, children... learn best through different hand on experiences, exploring, experiencing, experimenting and making new discoveries. Research tell us that the experiences children have through quality outdoor play has a great influence and effect on the growth of their brain and creates strong foundations for future development in all areas. Playing freely outdoors helps the development of social skills, spatial awareness, cooperation, communication and sensory awareness. Outdoor play can also assist children to learn about decision making, develop their ability to share, develop conceptual ability, the ability to imagine an idea without seeing it in practice, learn about their body and their ability as well as become more independent and address their fears. 03.01.2022 Celebrating National Nutrition Week Ilim Learning Sanctuary Dallas children attended a community excursion to the local supermarket as a whole centre event. The purpose of the event was to build collaborative relationships with the community, help children connect to the community, expose children to real-life experiences and teach children about nutrition. Children had the opportunity to choose their favourite fruit and vegetables and brought the experience back to the service, to express their individual achievement and feel connected towards our community.

02.01.2022 Ilim Learning Sanctuary-Dallas welcomed Lisa from Mad About Science to deliver a science based workshop aligned with the Victorian Years Learning and Developmental Framework. The children resourced their learning through connecting with different science themes including magnetism, electricity, chemistry, forces, light and colour and mini beasts. It was a great opportunity for children to explore the purpose and functions of a range of science based tools to investigate and problem solve ideas and theories by working with manipulative objects and experimenting with cause and effect.
