05.01.2022 Over the last few years we have been asked on many occasions whether we supply the epoxy resins for artistic applications. The short answer at the moment is no and I will tell you why. Epoxy resins yellow...end of story. I dont care that there are some companies based in the USA who claim that they have developed an epoxy resin that is non yellowing and have done accelerated UV testing of their product through Atlas Labs in Arizona along with a number of their competitors pr...oducts. I too have tested all these products with our accelerated UV testing equipment and unfortunately they all yellow to differing levels and over differing time periods. Adding UV absorbers and HALS to epoxy resins, as has been suggested in many online posts and marketing blurbs does have the effect of dramatically reducing the yellowing of the epoxy...only until the UV absorbers and HALS have been exhausted. UV absorbers and HALS work like sunscreen...they block the UV rays for a period of time but are consumed in the process. Once they are consumed the UV radiation is free to do what it loves to do, burn your skin, or yellow your epoxy art work. Stay tuned while I continue my rant on this subject...
