08.01.2022 **Family input at Kids & Hugs FDC** .... Friday afternoon we welcomed one of our children's Nanny to come and read to us at story time. The children loved having Nanny Ann in our FDC. Nanny Ann was impressed how the children were able to finish the sentences of the books being read! At Kids & Hugs we love incorporating Family input into our program.

05.01.2022 Working on our Shape recognition Skills

04.01.2022 Billy started with me on the first day that I opened my Family Day Care in 2016 as a 11mth old. Billy left briefly for a while but was back just in time before starting Kinder. When Billy started care again with us Billy bought me the most beautiful long stem red rose! I found that so adorable I wish you the best of luck in primary school Billy and I’m so sure that you will do great. Just don’t talk your teacher’s and friends ears off too much. I am looking forward in hearing about all your achievements in primary school Billy

02.01.2022 Scissor Skills ... Learning how to use scissors plays an important role in developing the fine motor skills young children need in order to hold pencils and crayons. It might sound easy, but teaching young children how to cut with scissors is a very complex task. Cutting also helps develop eye-hand coordination as children hold the paper with one hand and cut with the other while tracking the movement of the scissors with their eyes. Another important skill that is develope...d through cutting is bilateral coordination. Bilateral coordination involves using both sides of the body at the same time while each hand is performing different tasks. For example, to cut a square, the child must hold the paper with one hand and turn it while the other hand is not only opening and closing the scissors but also moving along the line. Easier said than done! See more
