25.01.2022 Sleeping Beauty Introducing Narrator: Scott Bowcher An actor and musician Scott has been in many productions both professional and amateur. Recently Scott worked as Musical Director for The Little Mermaid (AMTC 2016), played the role of Mr Banks in Mary Poppins (AMTC 2017) Joe in Sunset Boulevard (Roo Theatre 2017) and is currently rehearsing for AMTC's November production Les Miserables as Enjolras - the passionate leader of Les Amis de I'ABC! Scott holds an Advanced Diploma... in Performance and a Diploma in Musical Theatre. When not acting he plays two instruments (Violin and Saxophone) and currently tutors at Stella Studioz, Nowra Anglican College and from home. On this day that reminds us to ask our friends and family if they're ok it's also important to know what the next step to take is. 12.01.2022 Introducing our Sleeping Beauty: Isabelle Spinelli Isabelle has been practicing the performing arts from a young age. During this time, she has been vocally trained by Danny Benn in genres ranging from opera to classic rock and has undergone dance training at Theatrix Performing Arts. Isabelle was also selected as an auditioned music student at Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts. Most recently, Isabelle was the vocal coach for The Roo Theatre’s production of "Witc...hes of Eastwick" in 2018 and played the role of Svetlana in "Chess: In Concert" also at The Roo Theatre in 2017. During her career, she has also been selected as a featured artist for Southern Stars 2015 and 2014, involved in WHSPA’s musical seasons from 2012 2015, as well as iYAP’s "Rock of Ages" in 2018, and "The Wedding Singer" in 2016. She has performed in Illawarra On Pointe's "South Pacific: In Concert" (2017) and as a guest soloist in our 2017 concert series Classical Music From The Screen. 03.01.2022 Introducing our Sleeping Beauty guest performer: Christopher Lincoln Bogg Chris began his enthusiasm for music and theatre as a keen amateur while growing up in his native Canberra. His professional performing career has included major roles at some of the world's leading opera houses and touring throughout Europe and the USA. In addition to his international appearances, he has performed as a soloist with Opera Australia and many of the regional orchestras, opera companies a...nd choral organisations in Australia and New Zealand. His wide solo repertoire includes favourites and rarities in both traditional and contemporary opera, most of the great concert choral classics as well as an eclectic mix of recital and art song. He has also appeared in operettas, musicals and plays and in diverse venues from intimate cabaret stages to giant arenas. Chris has recorded for the Orfeo label, Move Records Australia and made many radio broadcasts. Awards he has won include the Dame Joan Sutherland Society Scholarship, the Bond Family Scholarship for Tenors and the German Operatic Award. He was nominated for a Helpmann Award for his performance in Opera Australia's Madeline Lee. 03.01.2022 2020 BALLET ANNOUNCEMENT! The Sorcerer’s Apprentice: A Symphonic Ballet We announced our 2020 ballet over the weekend and we’re just a little excited! Bigger than our first commissioned ballet this production premiering in Wollongong 2020 will feature many local child and adult dancers, local musicians and singers and run for a total of 6 performances. Dance audition information will be available early January and tickets go on sale this December. Watch this space! Plot:... A young apprentice more interested in reading books and daydreaming than actually completing chores gets in to all sorts of enchanted trouble when her master is away on an important wizard summit. Getting a hold of an ancient spell book and magic wand the apprentice gets lost in the Sorcerer’s expansive library, bringing to life all sorts of fictional characters that reek havoc on the Castle. Not learning from her mistakes in dabbling with sorcery the apprentice turns to magic to try and complete the long list of chores and the suddenly chaotically messy castle. In enlisting the closet broom to help with her chores the apprentice soon finds herself knee deep in water and in deep, deep trouble as the magic wand conjures colourfully bioluminescent sea creatures from the dark blue ocean. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is a story about the importance of patience, thinking before acting and dealing with the repercussions of ones actions. This family friendly ballet is full of magic and wonder and features local dancers choreographed to original steps by Meryl Papalos. The performance is accompanied by a live symphony orchestra performing original music composed by Ryley Gillen. Enjoy watching talented local dancers in this phantasmagorical story and listening to the world of enchanting sounds from a professional orchestra and guest choir in this two act ballet that is sure to delight the whole family.

02.01.2022 Meet Kyle Eardley who has been working as our resident composer and orchestrator for the October Concert Series. Come along to our Symphonic Epics concerts this weekend and hear his composition The Trombone Ranger, a symphonic poem dedicated to local Max Croot as well as cinematic excerpts by special arrangement. Kyle, originally from Wollongong, is on staff at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music and works extensively as a music educator in Sydney and performer across the state.
