22.01.2022 This is one of 25 push-ups for 25 days challenges that one of our operatives accepted to help raise awareness for things such as PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), anxiety and depression that drive people to commit suicide. Something our operators are all to familiar with, so, with this in mind we challenge our other ESOs to post a video of an operative taking the challenge to raise awareness. #SUICIDEAWARENESS

17.01.2022 25 PUSH-UPS FOR 25 DAYS Thank you to our colleagues at NSW SES Bush Search and Rescue Unit for the nomination. This is one of 25 push-ups for 25 days challenges... that one of our operatives accepted to help raise awareness for things such as PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), anxiety and depression that drive people to commit suicide. PTSD is a disorder that takes a great toll on emergency service workers. We are also the first ones to respond when others reach that crisis point in their lives. When was the last time you asked a family member, a friend or work colleague "R U Okay" Perhaps our local Fire & Rescue NSW stations would like to take up the challenge. #SUICIDEAWARENESS

16.01.2022 Last weekend was very busy time for the Blue Mountains Police Rescue Squad and the NSW Ambulance service with our operators responding to several rescue operati...ons. On Saturday afternoon the squad and Ambulance Special Operations Paramedics responded to a report of 2 rock climber stuck 50 metres down a cliff face at Pierces Pass near Mount Tomah. Rescue operators abseiled down to the pair and set up a roping system that was used to bring them to the top of the cliff. This operation took several hours and went on into the evening. On Sunday the squad responded with the Ambulance service to Point Pilcher at Medlow Bath in relation to a rock climber that had taken a 20-metre fall on a cliff that was around 200 metres in height. Two Police Rescue Operators and two paramedics have made their way down to the climber who was on a small ledge with broken ankles and a possible fractured wrist. The operators have moved him down the cliff face to another ledge that provided more protection and more space for the paramedic to work on him. The following morning the operators again moved him down the cliff face to a wider ledge in preparation for a helicopter winch. At this stage cloud and fog moved into the valley which affected the helicopters ability to move in and perform the winch. Finally, late Monday afternoon, the helicopter was able to get overhead and safely winch the rock climber out. He was flown out to Westmead hospital for further treatment. The whole operation taking over 24 hours. While this was occurring the squad also responded to a lost bush walker at Mount Tomah. After 2 hours of searching the bush walker was located and guided back out of the bush where he was treated by the Ambulance service for dehydration. Finally, on Monday evening, just after the Point Pilcher job had been completed, the rescue squad and Special Operations paramedics responded to 4 lost bush walkers in the National Park at Glenbrook. With one of the bush walker suffering from chest pains. The group were located in the Glenbrook Gorge and walked out of the bush to the Glenbrook township. As the Covid restrictions start to ease and you consider going for a bush walk in the Blue Mountains please download the Emergency + App at (https://emergencyapp.triplezero.gov.au).
