Register to present: https://www.ipcn.nsw.gov.au/.../russell-vale-underground-expa Info and submission guide: http://irrm.org.au/ Watch the webinar to help prepare: https://vimeo.com/466370513 Our neighbourhood deserves better than what has been served up for years by local and state governments. 24.01.2022 Wollongong Coal's Russell Vale mine expansion project would have two new stockpiles on the colliery site, bringing the total number of stockpiles to three. This greater stockpile surface area will mean more coal particulate pollution for the neighborhood. Object to the development with the Independent Planning Commission (IPC) Register to speak at the public hearing by 12 October Public Hearing (on-line) - 19 October Written submissions due 27 October... 23.01.2022 We are told that we must mine the coal in the water catchment to make steel and yet the vast majority of the extracted coal is being exported, not going to Port Kembla Steel Works. Could a green steel project be built in the Illawarra and what would it mean for jobs in the region? Hear from the experts in this free webinar tonight at 6.30pm.

22.01.2022 There’s no confusion for residents that if Russell Vale restarts production coal trucking will be a curse on our neighbourhood. https://www.illawarramercury.com.au//confusion-over-coal/

20.01.2022 Due date for written submission on the Russell Vale mine expansion under the water catchment has been extended to 5pm AEDT next Monday 2 November 2020. Make a submission here: https://www.ipcn.nsw.gov.au/have-your-say... More info here: http://irrm.org.au/

17.01.2022 Stop press: Wollongong City Council just voted to object to Russell Vale Mine Expansion!Stop press: Wollongong City Council just voted to object to Russell Vale Mine Expansion!

17.01.2022 Thanks are due to Wollongong City Councillors who unanimously voted to object to the Russell Vale mine expansion. Council has got the rough end of the stick from this mine for decades. The slag heap (emplacement area), which is partly located on Council land, should have been remediated years ago. The mine has been dragging the chain and residents and ratepayers are paying the price. https://www.illawarramercury.com.au//council-takes-a-sta/

16.01.2022 This is our last chance to object to the Russell Vale Mine Expansion. Written submissions due 5.00pm AEDT Tuesday 27 November. More info at: http://irrm.org.au/underground-expansion-project/ It may have been there since 1890, but a few things have happened since 1890. Greater Sydney Water Catchment is not the place for an experiment in triple tier mining. Russell Vale is not the place for an expanding coal mine.

14.01.2022 Seriously?!? Wollongong City Council staff think that residents and ratepayers have "zero comment" on mine expansion? https://www.illawarramercury.com.au//fury-at-council-cla/

13.01.2022 Something is decidedly off here! The collapse of the "marginally stable" - in other words UNSTABLE - pillars would not just affect the Cataract Reservoir water catchment, it could also potentially affect the stability of the Illawarra Escarpment. Object by 5.00pm Tuesday. See www.irrm.org.au

07.01.2022 There is some footage here of Cataract Reservoir last summer. How quickly we forget that Cataract was at 26% capacity not so long ago. We have until 27 October to make an objection to Wollongong Coal Ltd's plan to expand mining in the catchment of the Cataract Reservoir.

03.01.2022 Outside Russell Vale Colliery this morning, community members have gathered to say it’s time to #stopminingourwatercatchment and say NO to Russell Vale mine expansion.
