25.01.2022 A big thank you to teachers and schools who assist parents who want tutoring for their child. So many teachers go out of their way to produce documents to help tutors initially grasp the student's specific needs. Schools are also opening up opportunities for students to be tutored during school time, at the school.

24.01.2022 Back to school can be tough at times, no matter what age. I like what my daughter's maths' teacher told another student today: "Whatever you do - don't stress - it's okay." And the maths' teacher has been teaching for a long time and I appreciate her wisdom - very true words.

21.01.2022 Ha! I wouldn’t like anyone to wear this!!!!

20.01.2022 English tutoring can create some really positive habits, such as good planning when writing or disciplined habits for tasks such as reading.

20.01.2022 Tutoring gives peace back to parents! I have had so many parents tell me how hard it is helping their son or daughter without it being stressful. Some have said that it gets to the point where their kids won't share any work that they have done. I definitely understand this as I have a daughter of my own. I think the clash of parents wanting the best for their child and being passionate, along with kids' reluctance or lack of confidence mixes disastrously!

14.01.2022 Good luck to all of my students who are sitting the ICAS English exam this morning. ICAS is extremely challenging, but definitely a good learning opportunity for kids. https://www.eaa.unsw.edu.au/icas/about

13.01.2022 I am very grateful that I am at my capacity now and I have a waiting list for potential clients. :-)

13.01.2022 Tutoring is a relief for kids and parents, even if the kids are reluctant to admit it! If the tutor has a smile and is positive, it doesn't take long for this to be contagious.

13.01.2022 I tutor English, but of course maths is important too and a retired principal told me about a great online program for maths and science. It's called the Khan Academy and I couldn't believe it is absolutely free. Great revision during holidays!

12.01.2022 During the holidays: A great 10 minute a day - Maths and English exercise A subscription isn't necessary if you just want a short practise every day. It sets a time limit and times you out after about 10 minutes. I use the 10 minutes/day limit in some of my tutoring sessions.

12.01.2022 I read a recent article in the Brisbane Courier Mail about tutoring too young. Parents being guided in learning, while their child is as young as four, isn't any different to joining a music class in the before school years or a social/sport activity - it's a positive beginning. :-)

11.01.2022 This is an online program and the best thing is when you choose the wrong answer, the explanation is very thought out and easy to understand. Another good thing is: you can try it for about 10 minutes a day for free. This is a great holiday activity.

11.01.2022 What's 12 minutes of learning compared to a 90 minute movie???? YES - NOT A LOT! I have a great idea to keep learning quick, fresh, free and FUN during the holidays!! In the web address bar type: ixl.com A user can log on every day and do a session in English and Maths for an average of about 10 minutes. The levels are from grade 1 to 12 and the explanations, when an answer is incorrect, are AWESOME!!! Of course there is a yearly membership and I think it's one of the best... educational sites around, but 10 minutes a day is a great start! Sharyn See more

10.01.2022 This is a positive article about improving toddlers’ language development through play with their parents. Ref: The Courier Mail - 26/6/18, page 05.
