04.01.2022 I'm not quite sure how we missed this great bit of community minded charity! We have now become aware of the The Salisbury Pantry which operates out of the Salisbury Scout Group hall on the corner of Blackwood Rd and Cripps St. What an amazing community initiative. Bread and clothing and kids toys all for free to good homes (donations also welcome). Between 8.30m and 10.30am each Sunday. If you haven't already, then go and have a look!

04.01.2022 Here's an interesting titbit of information following the recent Hailstorms surrounding our lovely Salisbury! In 1945 a severe hail storm damaged many houses and farm building in Sunnybank. Orchard trees were decimated and small crops and pineapples completely destroyed. Fowls and other small livestock were killed. "Hail guns" then became a feature of the area - these being fired into approaching storm clouds to stop hail development, or make it smaller. 10 years later there was another storm which was equally destructive. The attached photo is of a gentlemen called "Mr Kelly" after the 1945 storm holding two pieces of hail, each half the size of a football! Amazing! I'm glad these didn't fall at my house! I'm also very curious about these "Hail guns"... did they actually work?
