22.01.2022 Wish you have a spicy and healthy X'mas!

17.01.2022 IThai Restaurant 9, 2-10 Captain Cook Crescent, Manuka, ACT. This was a dinner for two and I ordered entrée of curry puff and chicken satay. For main I had ba...ttered perch with three flavours sauce (), hormok (Steamed fish dumpling), and green curry chicken. Finished off with black sticky rice and coconut milk. Entrées were good. Curry puffs were nicely done and chicken satay skewers were delicious. The cucumber in the dipping were too small to be picked up by the sticks though. Fish was nicely cooked. Firmed to eat. but I didn't like that it was battered. I also expected the sauce to be better that what I had. But the whole thing was well prepared, well presented and tasted OK. The green curry was excellent. Again, bamboo shoots get my thumbs up every time. Nice flavour and very aromatic worthy of Thai cuisine. I would say that this was the best of the night. Hormok - well, it didn't present like the photo in the menu. Relatively, it was the most expensive item of the night but then, I can't complain. It was a large serving. I would normally expect it to be a third of the size of what's came to my table. Pro: excellent taste. I love the aromatics and the spices here. The coconut cream on top nailed it for me . Con: again, this was fish pieces and NOT the mousse-like texture I was hoping for. (Is there ANY Thai restaurant in Canberra that will be ale to create the authentic Thai way of this dish?) The black sticky rice was very nice. (but with ice cream? Lost a bit of "authentic" Thai here.) Overall, I found everything a little - just a little, too salty, But it is not a major concern here. Could be just an off night. This is NOT a place for "fine dining" experience and the place is not aiming to be. But it passed the taste test. This place seems to have an air of a refreshing change to the usual rubbish of carrots and peas in curries and the overload of onion, capsicum, broccoli in sauces. I certainly would love to come back and try some other dishes. Recommended. Rating:
