25.01.2022 This is a fantastic idea and now with SDA funding in your plan there could be options like this being built by NDIS participants in the future.

21.01.2022 Today we were notified by the NDIS commission that we have achieved Specialist Disability Support Coordination. This means that now we can assist with provision of Support Coordination necessitated by specific high level risks in our clients situation. We aim to focus on addressing barriers and reducing complexity in the support environment, while assisting our clients to connect with supports and build capacity and resilience to Imagine their best life. This is a great achievement in our short history.

20.01.2022 Is the thought of self-managing your NDIS funding daunting. Self management gives you control, independence and flexibility in arranging and paying for your supports. If you self-manage your NDIS funding you will have: - Choice in deciding what supports you purchase in line with what is included in your plan, who provides these supports and how they are delivered.... - The flexibility to use any provider that will best help you to meet your plan goals. - Capacity to employ or contract staff directly, or have a nominee employ staff on your behalf. - The ability to negotiate the costs of your supports so you get the best value-for-money and to use savings to buy more or better quality supports, and -ultimate control over and responsibility for your NDIS funding so you can manage your own budget for the duration of your plan. This is why it's essential for an organisation to truly understand its customers experience, which means not just looking at a customer’s journey in isolation, but also includes reviewing how that customer interacts with an systems, processes and people in order to create a positive client outcome. 12.01.2022 The NDIS Specialist Disability Accommodation Design Standard launched by NDIS minister Stuart Robert in October sets out detailed design requirements that will be incorporated into newly built SDA from 2021. The standard sets out four categories of SDA design, including improved liveability, robust, fully accessible and high physical support. From July 2021, all SDA applications will need to nominate a design category ... 10.01.2022 Significant changes have been passed to the NDIS Legislation. None is more significant than those to remove barriers and disincentives for families wishing to live together in SDA. Presently the SDA rules makes it very difficult for an NDIS participant with SDA funding to live with someone who doesn’t have SDA funding such as a spouse or significant partner. This has been a hard policy which has prevented people with disability seeking housing solutions matching their level of disability being able to live with their spouses or partners, children or other people. 07.01.2022 It’s important when looking for housing options that you work with someone who understands Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). IMAGINABILITY understands the SDA. In order to be eligible for the SDA payment ( the bricks and mortar) it’s imperative that you engage an Occupational Therapist who understands the SDA legislation and the level of design and supports to meet your immediate and future needs. This is a specialist OT and may not be someone you normally work with.... SDA is a specialist field and the OT Eligibility Report is different to a functional capacity assessment (FCA) report and will link your needs with the legislative requirements of SDA within the NDIS. It is not simply enough to issue an FCA report, but use the SDA Eligibility OT report to support a Specialist Disability Housing Plan which will detail to the SDA panel your exact functional requirements and the housing preferences most suited to you. These two reports are then lodged concurrently with a change of circumstances form to your NDIs planner or LAC to be issued to the NDIS. 07.01.2022 When SDA developers provide this level of outdated group home style solution, they diminish the whole point of Choice and Control. As an NDIS participant you have the control and choice to determine your housing solutions and why should a housing option be any different for a person with a disability than it would be for their able bodied peer.
