24.01.2022 My first successful double colour with only a single colour extruder. Designing my own flyer and business card stand to show off a bit to customers rather than just using a pre bought stand. I designed the base with slots to insert a second colour and made sure what we offer is clear from every angle. I added the front spiral squares for our resin miniatures to sit on so the hobby shop clients can see our finest details. This was a personal project but these stands have turne...d out so great I’m going to offer them in our print on demand range with personalisation options available to suit other businesses. 22.01.2022 My first attempt at using my new ripple tool was lots of fun until I snapped off a few of the rippling tips while washing the paint off it. Although it worked well, I’m redesigning it to make it stronger. Another top tip is thinking about the direction of layers your printer will print in. The spikey parts of this tool were printed vertically which means each layer sat flat on top of the next which gave me support free printing but also caused easy snapping. This is why each ...design gets test printed and if it’s a tool we test that it’s functional before we offer any of our own designs to clients. Fortunately I am a self taught abstract painter who loves design and my hubby is a qualified artist and designer with a digital arts degree and a masters degree in teaching so there aren’t many design challenges we can’t tackle. 10.01.2022 4 stages of a work in progress inspired by wildflowers. I am loving the flowers with today’s update but those mountains need work, or removal. I am usually someone who only paints at night when my kids are asleep and therefore tries to finish a piece in 1 session but Taking my time with this piece and gradually building on the idea has been really enjoyable. The sky feels very Wintery so adding sparkly ice specks to the body of water was a nice contrast to the golden dry flow...ers. 07.01.2022 It’s been a busy week at the IF headquarters, designing and testing new products, some last minute Father’s Day orders going out and a few more custom requests including board game pieces. We always do our best to say yes when we can and if it’s not something we can achieve right now, we hope to have more options as we upgrade our machines in time. Tonight was disappointing as I’ve run many different tests on both types of printers and materials but decided the custom stamps ...will not work for now. There’s obviously a good reason people use rubber or silicone for stamps. I will revisit this concept later and apologise to the 2 clients who had hoped to order their personalised stamps. 07.01.2022 It’s been one of those days! Over extruding then under extruding, stringing, lifting and basically just a lot of mess and wasted time. When you’re a full-time mum, a teacher’s wife and barely keeping on top of the endless laundry that magically reappears whenever it’s finally finished, wasting time is not helpful. Anyway I finally fixed the problem and got back into test printing a bunch of my new Christmas designs like this cute gingerbread man.
