03.01.2022 Along with offering beauty services, I like to teach my clients tips and tricks to help with their beauty routines. One question I get a lot is how do you actually clean your makeup brushes and how often? Brushes, beauty blenders and sponges should be cleaned weekly. If you don’t clean them often enough they can harbour bacteria which can lead to unwanted breakouts. Clean them too often and you risk stripping the bristles of their natural oils which is what keeps them soft.... Hold the bristles under lukewarm water. Place a drop of makeup brush cleanser into the palm of your hand. (If you don’t have brush cleanser you can use a gentle shampoo and conditioner) Gently massage the tips of the bristles in your palm. Rinse the bristles and squeeze out the excess water with a clean towel. Reshape the brush heads and hang them upside down using a towel rail and rubber bands or hair ties which allows them to air dry in the correct shape.
