22.01.2022 This term our preschoolers have been looking at where we live and discussing a little bit about Australian history. Throughout these conversations with children, we highlighted some important key points for children to recognise, building knowledge and respect around our indigenous culture and the importance of their contributions to where we live today. We used an image of the Aboriginal flag to help children develop an understanding of what the indigenous community value ...and care for most, the land (plants and animals), sun and people. We also discussed how lucky we are that they share these important things with us everyday. With this new knowledge and understanding we created our statement of acknowledgement of country to display in our room, which we will say together each day to show our respect for our indigenous members of the community. 18.01.2022 This week educators bought in some new vegetables to put in the garden! During group time we looked closely at the plants, identifying the different parts of a plant including the roots, stem, leaves and seed. We watched a short video on how plants grow, and discussed the basic things plants need in order to grow, including good soil, water and sunlight! After lunch we played a guessing game, to identify which vegetables we were planting. Educator gave some clues and using... these clues along with their own personal experiences, children identified the vegetables we had, including peas , zucchini and eggplant. We then spent some time cleaning up the garden patch, getting rid of all the weeds and dead leaves, leaving the perfect home for our new plants. Children took turns to support one another, digging the holes and planting the sprouts. We then gave them a really good watering to facilitate the growing process! See more

13.01.2022 PM Scott Morrison said it well last night. Let a child be 4. Let them enjoy that time, learn at their own pace and for their little 4 year old lives be as normal as possible in these uncertain times. It's important for our children to continue their usual routine, because routines help children feel safe, secure and supported during the craziness of our world at the moment. Continuing your child's care is important to do - because they are only 4 (or 1, 2 or 3) for such a short time
12.01.2022 Don't miss out on this great event
11.01.2022 This week in the preschool room, we introduced a new program with the children called ELLA ’early learning languages Australia’. ELLA is a digital, play-based language learning program for preschool children. This Australian Government initiative inspires children by driving a genuine interest in a new language and culture. This year we have chosen to learn Mandarin. The program is made up of a series of 7 apps which we will work through over the year. Each app, has a specif...ic focus. App 1 has a focus on greetings and likes and dislikes. This week we have focused on setting up an area in the room for children to engage with app in pairs. We have also been working with children on a system which encourages children to independently share and take turns on the app. As children get used to this, we will take a closer look a the phrases in the app and work through them together. 04.01.2022 Our preschoolers enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year. We began our discussion by looking at where China was on the world map. During this time we discussed how there are so many different cultures in the world, and how people from these different cultures celebrate different things. We then started talking about Chinese New Year. To learn more about the holiday, we watched a short video. In this video we learnt about the origin of Chinese New Year and how it was created. It also taught us a little bit about the Chinese zodiac and different foods specific to the Chinese culture. Chinese New Year is a 15 day celebration, so we will be looking at different parts of the Chinese culture in this time.
04.01.2022 Our preschoolers look fantastic as we dress up in support of Sheridan and her family! Well done preschoolers! There’s a little bit of superhero in all of us!
03.01.2022 Every family and every child deserves quality early childhood education and care. What does this look like for you and your child while enjoying our service? What do your car rides look like on the way home? What stories do your children share about their day at our service? https://youtu.be/3I1sy6GVWVg
03.01.2022 To celebrate Australia Day, our preschoolers had a group conversation about the country we live in. Children looked at 2 maps. One which shows the states it is divided in to today and one showing the indigenous regions it is made up of. In each picture children helped to identify where we live. During this discussion we also discussed how important it is that we respect the land on which we live because our indigenous community share it with us. Children then demonstrated their understanding through this simple gum leaf craft. Using the koala to pinpoint where we live in Australia.
03.01.2022 We are sadly writing to inform you that one of our staff members, Sheridan , is undergoing treatment for cancer. Sheridan has been diagnosed Glioblastona Brain Tumour - stage 4 Brain Cancer and unfortunately will not be returning to work. Sheridan was employed with us for a short period of time, but made such an impact to the service with her bubbly, caring and positive attitude. As you all know having a family is expensive and especially when one of the parents is suddenly ...unable to bring an income, this can put a lot of pressure on a family. Sheridan is a wife and a young mother of two boys 4 & 7 years old. We would love to help Sheridan and her family to create some memorable moments. So as a community we would like to come together and help Sheridan and her family create these memories without the burden of the finical stress. We ask that all children and educators come along dressed up in their favourite Super Hero costume with a donation on Tuesday 25th Feb. All donations will be given to Sheridan and her family. We will run this fundraiser for several weeks, so please feel free to donate at any time.
01.01.2022 Last week our children in the preschool room were showing at interest in zombies, in their imaginative play. So this week Caroline thought it would be fun to paint our faces to look like real zombies! During this activity, we had a discussion about how we can turn into zombies by being infected by a zombie bite. This also gave us a great opportunity to discuss the prevention of the spread of infection through personal hygiene practices like washing our hands, covering our mouth when we sneeze or cough and using tissues.
