04.01.2022 JOURNEY OF 1000 MILES || Starts with just one step.... or something like that. Someone called our Byron HQ today and was surprised that I answered - and even more surprised when I said my daughters are downstairs helping pack boxes. I started IMBIBE 6 years ago in my tiny kitchen, and then moved into the shed (long suffering Mr. Imbibe renovating our shed and yep he’s still at it!) and then finally got our beautiful Byron HQ. I first started out making these incredible rai...nbow fermented probiotic drinks (who remembers them? ) because I had a whole range of intense digestive and other health issues I needed to fix. Trust me, I was in a mess. It evolved into our incredible Ingestible Beauty range which took over 2 years to create. That whole time, I would wake up at 4 am and start to bottle my drinks before my daughters would get up. Sometimes I’d get calluses on my hands and they would bleed from screwing closed hundreds of bottles. During their nap times I’d do all the invoicing, organise deliveries and in the afternoons we’d pack up milk crates (!!!) and hand deliver all over town. And then late into the night reply to emails and try to figure out how the hell to make a website and all the millions of other things you gotta learn. And then, I’d do it all again the next day. Some days I’d be so exhausted with parenting young kids and healing my health and trying to keep my dreams alive of bringing you the most scientifically developed and robust products I could make (because honestly they just didn’t exist). I’m no longer packing up orders in a milk crate but we remain a family business and sometimes you might even get a handwritten card from our 8 year old in your box. 02.01.2022 VULNERABILITY, UNCERTAINTY, PAIN < JOY, LIGHT, HAPPINESS. What a year 2020 is unfolding to be. This has honestly been the most global uncertainty and isolation and fear I think collectively we have ever felt - would you agree? ... And yet, amongst the pain, there is also joy. Amongst the isolation, there is also togetherness. Amongst the fear and uncertainty, there is also growth. Sometimes it's hard to see, but it's there. The dark cannot exist without the light and it's the light that we have to focus on. Our light this year has been the sweet surprise baby girl we are excited to welcome into our little family in a few months. And what a year to bring her into the world. My prayer for her, and also for you (always), is that amongst the darkness; she will strive to be the light. Amongst the fear she will strive to be brave. Amongst the overly photoshopped, augmented and falsities of this world, she will strive to know and see herself as perfect and whole and beautiful just the way she is - from the inside. Because, at the end of the day, the only things that are real, as I was reminded by my dear friend @helenkoker, are love, community, health and peace. The rest is just white noise. We tried for this baby for 6 years. 6 years of disappointment, of tears, of pain. Multiple rounds of testing with no conclusive outcomes. Yearning for her to complete our family. And then, in the surrender and gently letting go of this year, at the height of lockdown, homeschooling, massive vulnerability, at a time when everything seemed to be in turmoil, there she was. There was joy. There was our sweet surprise. If you also are feeling the pain and uncertainty right now, I get it; I'm right here with you. I too feel that. Maybe you've been struggling with your own fertility or other challenges and you don't feel heard or seen. Please know, I'm always here for you, our highest intention as a company is to be right there with you on your journey. Through the pain and the joy.To support you.
