23.01.2022 11 years ago I came to Australia as an international student and, like most international students, I worked casual jobs in retail and hospitality. These two industries suffered the most from the covid-19 pandemic and as a result a lot of international students lost their jobs and are unable to receive any government assistance. For 2020 Financial Year I am offering all international students my services in preparations and lodgement of their income tax returns for $50 (n...ormally $140). Contact me today for a free consultation! #eofy #taxreturn #taxtime #studentsupport #taxagent #taxagentaustralia #covid19 See more
23.01.2022 Happy New Financial Year! A few thing you need to know before you lodge your return: 2020 financial year covers the period from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020... The ATO will start processing the return on 5 July 2020 and is aiming to start paying refunds from 16 July onwards Whilst you can lodge your return prior to this I recommend waiting until at least the 14th of July to ensure all your information such as income statement (payment summary), health cover, Centerlink statements, interest & dividend income etc are available Unless you paid tax during the year or it was deducted from your wages by your employer you will not get a refund! The due date for lodgement is 31 October 2020. If not lodged on time fines may apply. However if you lodge through a tax agent you are eligible for a due date extension. If you require assistance with preparation and lodgement of your tax return contact me today and I will be happy to help. I provide a range of services including Individual Income Tax Returns, Company, Trust, Partnership & SMSF end of year reporting & tax preparation, BAS preparation and general taxation advice. #eofy #tax #taxagent #taxagentaustralia #taxrefund #eofy2020 #accountantsofinstagram #taxadvice #australiantaxationoffice #smallbusinesssupport #taxreturn #taxseason
23.01.2022 Something I often hear from clients is Oh it’s only a hobby, I just sell to friends and family sometimes and they pay me cash. Surely I don’t need to report this and pay tax. Well, you do. Whilst the ATO doesn’t give us an exact definition of a hobby for tax purposes it is important to know when an activity is considered a business. Note: you only need to meet one of these criteria to be deemed as a business. You have a brand name, logo, website and other attributes of a ...business You intend to make profit You sell items/perform services on a regular basis You charge more for products than they cost you to buy or make Your activity is organised and has systems and processes in place So to sum up all hobbies where you occasionally sell your product or services would be considered a businesses for tax purposes and need to meet reporting obligations. 21.01.2022 If your employer reports through Single Touch Payroll (STP) you may not receive a payment summary from them. Instead, your payment summary information will be available in ATO online services through myGov. It is now called an 'income statement'. Your income statement is the equivalent of a payment summary (which some people still call a group certificate). Your income statement will show:... your year-to-date salary and wages the tax that has been withheld the super amounts your employer has to pay for you. How to access your income statement Make sure your myGov account is linked to ATO online services. 1. Log in to myGov. 2. Select Australian Taxation Office. 3. Select (from the top of the screen) Employment and then Income statements. #taxagentsydney #accountant #tax #eofy2020 #accountantsofinstagram #taxadvice #taxreturn #whatsnew #sydney #australia #australiantax #howto See more
