18.01.2022 Children's writing competition! The Prahran Mechanics Institute Victorian History Library (PMI whom I work for), in partnership with the Victorian department of Education is fully supporting us in running a creative writing competition for children aged 4-12 to celebrate children's week! The PMI believes that sharing stories with friends, family and role models can help us to feel safe, and, also help people into the future remember the important and interesting things that h...appened to us! That is why the Prahran Mechanics’ Institute Victorian History Library is presenting this Children’s Week activity in partnership with the Victorian Government. We are asking for children: "To type up a story told to you by a grandparent, parent, carer, aunty, uncle or elder, about their friends when they were your age. What did they get up to with their friends? What has changed?" Entry is free, and each entry is limited to 1 page, a $100 prize for the winner in each age group is available and all entries will be published in a book to be held in the PMI's library collection. The competition opened Wed 28th October, entries must be emailed to PMI by Wed 25th November 4pm and the PMI will announce winners on the 9th December. 17.01.2022 The world may seem like a tough place at times, and 2020 has not been an easy year for so many. Today and always, It is important to remember how we got here, and who got us here. A Poem For Remembrance Day "The inquisitive mind of a child"... Why are they selling poppies, Mummy? Selling poppies in town today. The poppies, child, are flowers of love. For the men who marched away. But why have they chosen a poppy, Mummy? Why not a beautiful rose? Because my child, men fought and died In the fields where the poppies grow. But why are the poppies so red, Mummy? Why are the poppies so red? Red is the colour of blood, my child. The blood that our soldiers shed. The heart of the poppy is black, Mummy. Why does it have to be black? Black, my child, is the symbol of grief. For the men who never came back. Be grateful for the experiences we are able to have today at the sacrifices others made.

12.01.2022 We adapted to online and so did some amazing children taking part in our classes. It has been an absolute pleasure to see children engaging, from all over Australia, it has kept my passion for teaching going, it has helped me grow as a business, getting reviews and money in the account to spend and develop the business. 02.01.2022 Looking for experienced Drama/performing arts teachers for ages 0 -5for incursions, and for After school groups aged 6 12. Must have experience with this age group and leading and planning activities. This is for Incursion work mainly in early learning centers so full WWCC required, and any experience in this area a bonus. Full paid training given in lesson plans and material provided with the chance to observe then be observed before going solo. The work could be set hour...s weekly or freelance bookings, a car is essential for travel as will need to carry some props and costumes at times. We are a small business who are looking for committed people who want to grow and develop their skills and can be honest in their commitments and availability. Ideally people who are passionate about teaching and nurturing this age group in their performing arts journey.
