25.01.2022 ** UPDATE - INSTANT ASSET WRITE OFF ** The Government will extend the $150,000 instant asset write-off (IAWO) by six months until 31 December 2020. Under the measure, the asset must be both acquired and installed ready for use by 31 December 2020, instead of 30 June 2020.

22.01.2022 *Enrol for the JobKeeper payment (from 20 April onwards)* An update has been issued by the ATO in regard to the JobKeeper application process, as well as providing more clarity on how to determine and calculate a fall in turnover. 21.01.2022 * THIRD STIMULUS PACKAGE * The third stimulus package has been announced and here is a brief overview of what it means for you as: Employer Self Employed with no employees ... WHAT IS IT AND HOW DOES IT WORK: JobKeeper Payment is a $1,500 per fortnight (before tax) payment, per employee The payment is made to the Employer by the ATO and the FULL payment MUST be passed onto the Employee/s. Payments are available to eligible businesses for a period of up to 6 months (NOTE: reporting requirements to the ATO will be need to be made by Employers each month) The payments will be backdated to 30 March The ATO will commence the payments direct to the Employer in the first week of May ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The payments are available to businesses with employees AND businesses without employees who meet the following eligibility requirements: have a turnover of less than $1 billion and have already, or expect to suffer a 30% decline in turnover relative to a comparable prior period (at least a month) Employers must have been in an employment relationship with the eligible employees at 1 March 2020 and confirm that each employee is currently engaged (including those stood down or re-hired). Eligible employees are at least 16 and employed on a full time, part time or casual basis (note casual employees must be employed on a regular basis for longer than 12 months) Employees are Australian citizens, holder of permanent visa, protected special category visa holder or a non protected (if residing continually in Australia for 10+years), special category (subclass 444) visa holder. Employees are not receiving JobKeeper payments from another employer or JobSeeker payments HOW DO I ACCESS IT AND WHAT IS THE APPLICATION PROCESS: STEP 1: of the registration process, from 30 March is via: https://www.ato.gov.au/general/gen/JobKeeper-payment/. This is a very basic registration form, you will only need ABN, name, contact details to register. STEP 2: Once you are registered the ATO will contact you as information becomes available, with a subsequent online application form needing to be completed STEP 3: In addition reporting will need to be made on a monthly basis The above information is yet to be legislated and may change. 17.01.2022 **JOBKEEPER ENROLMENT FOR APRIL AND MAY CLOSES ON 31 May 2020** If you enrol by 31 May, you will still be able to claim for the fortnights in April and May, provided you meet all the eligibility requirements for each of those fortnights.
