24.01.2022 Joanna and Enas from CARAD-Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees Inc are wanting to grow and re-shape the food truck activity that we seed funded in 2017. This will provide even more employment opportunities for their clients.
23.01.2022 Annie and Caitlyn Fogarty are generously sharing their story of why the Fogarty Foundation was started, what it is achieving in the education sphere, the challenges they have faced and their plans for the future. Also how the second generation is stepping in (or been thrown in!). Luckily their values are strongly aligned. Caitlyn reckons she is there to stay! The idea of our Generous Australians series is to encourage and inspire others to think and act more philanthropically. Thank you Annie and Caitlyn and The Grove Library for helping us to spread the word. #impact100wa #impact100 #collectivegiving #powerofphilanthropy #givingtogether
22.01.2022 Are you, or do you know, a Western Australian small to medium not-for-profit with a plan to make a big difference for the cause they serve? Would $100,000 help? We have opened our grant round for 2021 - maybe it's time to make an application. 22.01.2022 Andrea from Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Services Inc shares their plan to establish in Gosnells a replication of their successful Family & Domestic Violence program already run in Mirrabooka. The program would provide a counsellor, a social worker, health services staff, interpreters and FDV coordinator.
21.01.2022 Nicki shares from Fair Game, an organisation that seeks capacity building funds to continue its program of recycling donated sporting equipment to populations in need. They also wish to develop their online education materials for remote communities to increase their health messaging.
21.01.2022 Our 2021 Grant Round is now officially open! Smaller, local not-for-profits are invited to apply. 20.01.2022 Michelle introduces Darling Range Wildlife Shelter WA, a grassroots organisation that is looking to extend and adapt facilities, extend social media reach and meet new and increasing demand for wildlife care and rehabilitation. They have an army of volunteers that have provided over 40,000 hours of help.
20.01.2022 Carrie Clark from Kalparrin introduces their 8 week video support program for parents of kids with additional needs. The support group helps alleviate impacts on mental health, improve resilience and isolation. Being in a virtual setting reduces the barriers to participation for this group.
20.01.2022 A huge congratulations to our 6 x $50,000 Grant Winners - Dismantle, Midlas, Kalparrin, Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Services Inc, CARAD-Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees Inc, Zonta House Refuge Association Inc and 3 x $10,000 Grant Winners The Blue Room Theatre, Darling Range Wildlife Shelter WA and Fair Game!!
19.01.2022 So, now we are working with Media students at Curtin University in a symbiotic way - they get to practise their emerging skills in real world situations, we get a video about the impact of Impact100 WA - win/win! The students were down at 'CARAD - Opening Doors' last week, where the latest news is that they now have a great operations base for the Fare Go Food Truck as well as increased employment opportunities for their clients: they have won the contract to run the Warwick Senior High School canteen. They are still operating their donations of goods program as well - check out the pics below for ideas.
19.01.2022 And Kalparrin have been in full planning mode for their online peer support groups. They are already doubly oversubscribed for those starting in Term 4! They are thinking about holding them over the summer holidays, too, as it is just so long for many families to wait until Term 1. These guys do amazing work and the demand for their services keeps going up - they had 10-12 new members join just last weekend. We are proud and delighted to be able to support them in supporting WA families.
15.01.2022 Katt and Zainab from The Blue Room Theatre tell us about their proposal to support 30 artists creating 7-14 original works. Their programs will be run in the Cultural Centre, Northbridge and help bring audiences back to the city.
14.01.2022 And this is the Impact100 WA team who worked so hard to make it all happen this year. Thank you to this amazing crew for your COVID-19 pivot, fast and strong response and extremely hard work. You are making such a difference for our WA community. #impact100wa #impact100 #collectivegiving #grantawardsdinner2020 #teamwork
14.01.2022 Want to know more about what we are looking for in a grant recipient? Do you have questions about your eligibility to apply? We are holding a Workshop for Potential Applicants on Wednesday 7th April in the CBD, where we'll field your questions and do what we can to help ease the process.... 13.01.2022 Carrie from Kalparrin came along to our Kickstart Evening last week to tell us about how they were going with using our grant of $50,000 to set up and run Peer Support Groups for their families. They were quickly off the mark and were running them by October with over 90 parents benefiting from them so far. In a brilliant example of how our grants can catalyse greater support for an organisation, Kalparrin have also proven up the concept so well that they have been able to source additional funding from Lotterywest to continue the groups into the future. #impact100wa #impact100 #collectivegiving #transformationalgrants
12.01.2022 Wow! Jess at Dismantle already has 15 young people on her books as she manages their cases, guiding them through the Bike Dr and ReNew Properties programs and various requirements for working, and ushers them into successful employment elsewhere. She plans to include another 10 over the next month. No hanging around here! Pictured with Impact100 WA team members, Simone and Emma, are Shannon, Pat and Lawson
12.01.2022 Tonight is the night! Our 2020 Grant Awards Annual Dinner begins. We are thrilled to be giving away SIX grants of $50,000!
12.01.2022 Kelda from Zonta House Refuge Association Inc wishes to continue their Future Employment Connections program to facilitate women into employment to enable them to become financially independent.
12.01.2022 Pat informs us that Dismantle wants to provide targeted individual support to assist their young people on the path to employment. This would effectively close the loop, running after their Bike Rescue and ReNew programs.
11.01.2022 Anyone got some garden or maintenance work needing to be done? These guys are doing a great job while providing a social outcome as well as a business one
11.01.2022 Midlas (one of our 2020 winners) have been recognised for the great work they do - this is one of the programs they set up when COVID-19 hit and local water fountains were turned off and other sources of support for homeless people dried up. Instead of withdrawing to keep themselves safe, they found ways to provide yet more services. Even if they don’t win this award, our community is winning by having organisations like this amongst us.
09.01.2022 Our Impact100WA 2020 Grant Awards Annual Dinner, 12 August 2020. Well done to all our winners - CARAD-Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees Inc, Dismantle, Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Services Inc, Kalparrin, Midlas and Zonta House Refuge Association Inc and finalists - The Blue Room Theatre, Darling Range Wildlife Shelter WA and Fair Game! Thank you to Georgina Barker Photography
08.01.2022 Last week we dropped by Ishar Multicultural Women's Health Services to ensure a smooth handover of our $50k grant and its attached conditions. What a great organisation - they have already found ways to extend the life of the grant and are currently planning to have the Gosnells clinic up and running by mid-October because they are already receiving requests for their services there. Not only will they be expanding their own reach, but they will also be enhancing the service offerings of the agencies already in the area.
07.01.2022 We were delighted to attend the official launch of the CARAD canteen at Warwick Senior High School. It has been up and running for a couple of months and the students we chatted to have been delighted with the freshly cooked and tasty food. We heard from a couple of the canteen/Fare Go team - they expressed their appreciation for everything CARAD has been doing for them and for this really great opportunity. We heard from the school principal, too - she has been thoroughly won over by the social enterprise concept and regularly samples the food! She also loves the exposure to different cultures for her students. #CARAD #faregofoodtruck #WarwickSHS #Impact100wa #impact100 #collectivegiving

07.01.2022 Our YoungImpact fundraisers also chose to make a donation to Kalparrin this year. Their visit to the Perth Children's Hospital to drop it off kind of blew their minds: - they got to see that for some kids, living in hospital is their norm, with education, a library and an art room being part of what helps to get them through. - this brought home to them how important the mental support (such as that provided by Kalparrin) is for so many of the kids and their families coming... through PCH. - they also witnessed first hand how a huge amount of the work that gets done there is thanks to philanthropy and to volunteers - and they had the satisfaction of knowing that they are part of that support. Thank you Carrie and Nicky for giving them an amazing insight into both Kalparrin and PCH. #YoungImpact #collectivegiving #Impact100WA #impact100 #kalparrin See more
04.01.2022 And now the most difficult part of the evening! All donors get 6 votes that go towards their top 6 chosen organisations. Good luck to our 9 finalists!
04.01.2022 A trip out to Midland to check that Midlas are on track with administering our $50k grant. Their impressive CEO, Sarah, has been busy making contact with other Impact100 WA finalists to see if they can arrange collaborations: they gave us a pile of donated goods to pass on to Zonta House and are speaking to Dress for Success. They plan to use the same company as used by Earbus and CARAD to fit out their mobile office. The truck/van hasn't yet been identified, though - can you help? Something like an ex-ambulance vehicle or Mercedes Sprinter? Pictured, are Emma and Simone from Impact100 WA with Sarah and Simon from Midlas, You can also see their storeroom and the items they put out each day for people to take as needed.
04.01.2022 Paul Higginbotham from Earbus talks about how the bus that we helped fund has managed through this crazy year. Of the over 2000 kids they have screened in the Perth Metro this year, 127 were found to have middle ear disease or impaired hearing. Kids who can’t hear can’t learn.... #impact100wa #impact100 #collectivegiving #powerofphilanthropy #earbusfoundation #givingtogether
03.01.2022 Thank you to Sarah Patterson, who introduces Midlas, an organisation that provides free family law, financial counselling, tenancy advocacy and emergency relief support for the vulnerable and disadvantaged. They plan to widen their reach by creating a tailored mobile office that will attend where other services are provided to homeless people. This will assist Midlas in their goal of overcoming the barriers that keep the homeless on the street.
02.01.2022 Congratulations to 2019 grantee, Earbus on this fabulous bus/mobile clinic which will be touring the Perth Metro, checking ears and carrying out referrals. Impact100 WA and Impact100 Freo (see both our logos on the back of the bus) and other dignitaries were invited to be part of the smoking ceremony, carried out by Uncle Ben, Auntie Mingli and Pop Alf with didg by Daniel. #impact100 #impact100wa #collectivegiving #impact100fremantle #earbus #heartodayshinetomorrow
01.01.2022 What a great evening we had on Wednesday! Around 60 donors and guests gathered to hear how Midlas and Kalparrin are managing with our grants from 2020. They both inspired and delighted us with reports of the great work they are being able to achieve. Stand by to hear more over the next couple of weeks. They also acknowledged the wider value they have received in being associated with Impact100 WA, something we are very proud of.... #impact100wa #impact100 #collectivegiving #transformationalgrants
01.01.2022 Fantastic news for Midlas (one of our $50k grant winners this year). They have found and bought the truck that is going to become their mobile office to take their financial and legal services directly to those living rough in Perth's eastern suburbs. #midlas #impact100wa #impact100 #collectivegiving
