23.01.2022 Celebrating IMPACT's amazing volunteers #VolunteersWeek 2020 Greg and Judy Stubbs are volunteers with IMPACT Community Services and they love the relationships they’ve developed with the people they go and see. As volunteers in the Community Visitors Scheme - CVS they adore being able to provide this support, meeting people and hearing their stories. But the benefit is not just for the participants but for the visitor, too.... For more information about volunteering at IMPACT call Heather Hinsbey on 4153 4233 or go to https://www.impact.org.au/forms/volunteer-today Read Greg and Judy’s story and listen to what they have to say and why you should join IMPACT’s volunteers https://www.impact.org.au//rewards-flow-both-ways-in-the-c

07.01.2022 At the grand age of 98, Poppy thoroughly enjoys her visits from IMPACT's Community Visitors Scheme - CVS Margie Boyd. But now Margie is able to take Poppy on new adventures into the wider world from the comfort of her own home. IMPACT's Community Visitors Scheme has several sets of virtual reality goggles that can give residents access to a world of amazing experiences, like sailing down the Nile, sitting and watching elephants, going into to space or sailing through Ant...arctica . There are also some meditation apps, where one can relax in a rainforest or a beautiful garden . The VR technology allows experiences to be tailored to the individual's interests and hobbies. It's just one of the ways our amazing volunteers help connect with the elderly. To become a volunteer with IMPACT call 4153 4233. 02.01.2022 The Wisdom of Wednesday Sanity takes on a whole new meaning with adequate sleep? Sleep is something we all need. It is as essential for our survival as food and water, yet we are often neglectful of it. Do you have noisy neighbours, partying until dawn? Is the sound of the ocean and the fresh clean air of the Discovery Coast too much for you to bear at night?... Read on if this interests you!

01.01.2022 At IMPACT Community Services we fully support any effort to de-stigmatise disability and prevent bullying . James Toomey is the CEO of Mission Australia which has released for the first time data from its annual youth survey. He said the findings exposed an urgent need for a national campaign that de-stigmatised disability and prevented the bullying of young people with disability. Mr Toomey called for a national education plan and a national jobs plan, developed in consu...ltation with young people with disability, to break down barriers across all areas of their lives. Shockingly, the survey found young people with disability twice as likely to have been bullied in the past year than young people without disability. It’s time to act we need national education and jobs plans, IMPACT’s NDIS boss Jannene Thorn says. Do you have an opinion? Share your thoughts below.
