24.01.2022 Each week, I aim to introduce the rationale behind the animal icon I have chosen for each personality type. The Dove. Doves are renowned symbols of peace, harmony and tranquility. They gather in small flocks and coo gently. As birds of a gentle nature, they never act aggressively and back off at the first sign of trouble. Because of their calm nature, they tend to be well-liked by people.... The Dove is a perfect representation of the S Personality Type. If you are an S Type, you tend to have a very easy-going and friendly nature. S Types are people-oriented but tend to have a small social circle. One of their strongest traits is their ability to help and support. They're super helpful! Like the dove, S types tend to avoid conflict, and any form of aggression stresses and overwhelms them. S Types crave for security and stability - losing this aspect is their greatest fear. #didyouknow A common trait of an S Type is their indecisiveness. When faced with choices and options, they become overwhelmed with all the choices and start going back and forth, taking a very long time to decide before making a decision (which they'll second guess anyway.) Does this sound like you, or do you have clients who sound like they could be an S Type? I'd love for you to share in the comments below.

21.01.2022 Hello and thank you for visiting Impact Persona! I'm Charissa, a certified behavioural consultant in DISC. I created Impact Persona to help individuals become more aware of themselves and why they behave the way they do. To give you a glimpse into my more personal side, here are three fun facts about me: 1. I love dark chocolate (my partner thinks I make the best chocolate mousse he's ever eaten.) ... 2.I hate running - 10 minutes on the treadmill and I'm out! 3. In 2017 I underwent surgery for parathyroidectomy (that's a mouthful!). That fateful day, I discovered the incredible wonders of anaesthesia. See more

20.01.2022 Who do you know who hasn't had a virtual meeting? Without a doubt, virtual meetings have exploded all over the globe. They're the creative answer in today's pandemic climate. As most of us are working remotely, virtual meetings seem to be the only chance to connect with our co-workers and clients/customers.... But the truth is, running effective and productive virtual meetings has its challenges - when real human interaction is removed, how can we make others feel comfortable, heard and understood? One great benefit of DISC is it can help to bridge the gap between people and optimal workplace/business communication. Knowing your own DISC style, as well as that of others, enables you to adapt your communication style and meeting structure to achieve effective meeting outcomes for everyone involved. #effectivecommunication #bettermeetings #betterrapport #productivemeetings #impactpersona

20.01.2022 How do the four behavioural types possibly behave in the real world? Here's a brilliant video clip that gives you a pretty spot-on summary about the four behavioural types. The lift / elevator analogy is my favourite and is also included in my customised DISC reports. Check out the video below and let me know your thoughts! Which behavioural type (D, I, S or C) sounds like you?... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VqvjeXgUi4

20.01.2022 In this final series, I close off with the king of the pride. The Lion. When a lion spots its prey, it waits for a short while and then pounces, delivering one bite designed to kill. In the wild, each pride is led by one or two male lions whose job is to protect the territory. In return, the male lion gets the benefit of feeding first at the lioness' kills. D Personality Types are the Lions. In business D Types tend to stand at the top of the hierarchy, offering leadership..., strength and protection in exchange for loyalty and hard work. D's are aggressive, predictable and dependable. Their confidence and leadership abilities make them successful CEOs, leaders and entrepreneurs. D's are very dynamic people but can be so direct that their words become cutting to others. There're some key signs to spotting a high D. Are they quick to make decisions? Do they speak in a direct manner and not fluff around with words? Do you know anyone who might be a D? Do you think you're a high D yourself? I'd love to hear your experiences and/or comments!

19.01.2022 Junior Masterchef 2020 may be over, but these amazingly talented kids will forever remain in our hearts! Did you know DISC Profiling can be applied to kids too? It's not just an "adult thing"! These three young finalists have distinctive DISC styles and I'm going to share my analysis of which style I think they represent. Filo is a classic I-Personality . He's always optimistic and has such a huge smile on his face (he's always smiling!), and his antics crack the... judges and audience up. If you notice his body language, he tends to move his arms around quite a bit. In short, he's one expressive boy! His kitchen bench is also one of the messiest. He also exudes confidence when describing his dishes as "so good"! These are all characteristics of the I-Personality style. Georgia has a C-Personality . Described as a perfectionist, she said she was terrified when tackling her second challenge because she's "never done it before". When her coconut-inspired dessert fell apart, we could all see how upset she felt . C-Personalities strive towards perfection and "getting everything right"; they don't want to be wrong or do things in a slip-shod manner. Carter has an S-Personality . He's humble and quite reserved, and works on his dishes in a steady, calm manner. When speaking, he's always polite. When he was behind in the lemon merigue pie challenge, he started to feel overwhelmed and under the pump, and started to tear up, but eventually pushed on to the finish line. What a champ! Under pressure, S-Personalities tend to hold back from expressing how they feel, can have self-doubts and need time to adjust to sudden changes. If you have kids between the ages of 6 and 14, and are curious to know which DISC style they fall under, I have a DISC for Kids version! In this Kids version I don't just tell you what style they are, but also how to encourage and interact with them. If you're interested to have your child give the DISC for Kids a go, feel free to get in touch via DM or drop me an email at [email protected] :D #discprofiling #discforkids #juniormasterchef #kidsbehaviour #personality #cheflife #talentedkids #impactpersona

18.01.2022 Who's up for a vacation? As we return to the road to normality, holidays and vacation seem like a very real possibility. Here's a fun play on how each DISC style may tend to holiday. ... Are you a planner or spontaneous? Which one's yours?

17.01.2022 Four friends, Daniel (D), Isaac (I), Sarah (S) and Casey (C) decide to meet up for brunch at a cafe. The waitress walks over to take their coffee orders. Daniel, being quick, direct and decisive, makes a snap decision on what he wants. He tells the waitress. "I'll have a double-shot cappucino, that's it, thanks". Isaac is social, bubbly, interactive, and starts chatting with the waitress. "Hey, how's your day going? Are you having a busy day? I've been here a few times and... I really love the eggs benedict here! I think they're one of the best in town! Can I please have the mocha? Thanks very much!" Sarah is silent all this while, deeply contemplating her options as she can't make up her mind. Should she have the flat white or the cappucino? Or what about the mocha that Isaac had just ordered? She feels slightly stressed and tells the waitress, "I'm so sorry, I'm still deciding! Can you give me another couple of minutes?" Casey is also deeply pondering her choices, cautiously making her decision. While waiting for Sarah to make up her mind, she asks the waitress, "Do you have Zymil or soy? What's the price difference between the standard and the large? Do your coffees come extra-hot?" The above example sums up the behaviours of the four personality types. DISC provides an interesting insight into how each personality type tends to behave in different situations. Dominance direct, strong-willed Influence sociable, and lively Steadiness accommodating and warm Conscientiousness analytical and logical Which character - Daniel, Isaac, Sarah, Casey - resonates with you most? (I'm very much a Sarah most of the time!)

13.01.2022 In DISC profiling, we believe that behaviours can be adapted to overcome limitations. For example: - A D-style can adapt their behaviours to become more patient. - An I-style can adapt their behaviours to be better listeners.... - An S-style can adapt their behaviours to be more assertive. - A C-style can adapt their behaviours to be less critical and more open towards sharing. 13.01.2022 Have you wondered how DISC adds value to an individual? Here are 10 reasons why. 1. Helps you gain awareness of yourself: How do I respond to conflict? What motivates me? What causes me stress? How do I tend to solve problems? 2/ Shows the traits of each personality type in a positive light. 3. Provides insight into where your priorities and motivators differ from and align with your partner (personal or business wise).... 4. Teaches you non-judgmental language with which to discuss these priorities. 5. Encourages flexmoving beyond your default reactions. 6. Examines how you respond to conflict and stress. 7. Gives you a visual of where you fall on various scales versus where your partner does. 8. Supplies concrete tips for working with the other person. 9. Reveals potential roadblocks in your partnership. 10. Highlights the potential benefits of your styles collaborating. See more

12.01.2022 Have you been following our Sound Bites? The third Sound Bite is now up! This release, I talk about the I-Personality Style (the Peacock). I've included clips of celebrities who are high-I's so you can get a really good idea of the kind of energy I-styles bring to the table. I'd love it if you can take 5 minutes to have a listen! ... Enjoy! https://www.impactpersona.com.au/soundbites

12.01.2022 #didyouknow If you did a survey across a very large sample group, did you know there're some behavioural styles that DO pop up more than others? D's - 9% I's - 29% S's - 31%... C's - 31% Do note that this is a general breakdown - the statistics are not 100% on the money of course, but there's definitely a high element of truth to it based on the DISC profiles I've come across and the people I've met. #discprofiling #behaviour #attitudes #behaviourprofiling #behaviourchange #DISC #personalitytest #personalitytraits #personalitytype

10.01.2022 #didyouknow Within the DISC quadrant, each profile is linked to the other. If you've seen coloured circles overlapping each other, the concept is somewhat similar. In today's DISC Spotlight, find out how D's and C's are quite similar and yet different. How are they like as business owners or clients? Similarities:... Both are analytical Both are very task-oriented Differences: D's are quick to make decisions as they don't dawdle; while C's take a much longer time because they want to make sure they make the RIGHT decision. D's speak in a very direct manner; C's are a lot more reserved in their speech. As business owners, you can count on D's and C's to focus on results more than anything. These two behavioural types, however, are not inclined to share personal information easily, so if you feel you've got a D/C customer on your hand, avoid getting too personal with them. Rather, you want to talk about facts, numbers and results to get them on your side. #samebutdifferent #discprofiles

08.01.2022 "I'm Tabatha. I'm tough, I'm talented, I'm taking over." Tabatha Takes Over is a reality TV series show where in which former Shear Genius contestant and hair salon owner, Tabatha Coffey helps failing salons turn around in one week. (You might tell that I get secretly sucked into shows like these where you see businesses turn from Woe to Wow! Tabatha has a strong D-style . She's direct, decisive and demanding. In one particular episode, Tabatha tries to shake up a salon owne...r who's struggling to get things going. 07.01.2022 Over the course of 4 weeks, I share the animal symbolism behind each DISC behavioural type. The Peacock. A magnificent creature in the animal kingdom, the peacock is seen as beautiful and sexy. To attract his ideal half, he spends a great deal of time primping before heading out to strut his stuff, using his wonderfully distinct plumage to attract attention. Throughout history, peacocks have been venerated and admired. ... "I" Types are very similar to peacocks. They are outgoing and charismatic and typically are quite talkative. If you meet someone who dominates the conversation if their stories, chances are they're a high I Type! As business owners, I-Types make excellent communicators. They know how to engage their clients and can influence or persuade easily. In short, they make the best salespeople. At a networking session, I-Types are interactive powerhouses, bringing charm, energy and enthusiasm to groups. They love being around people and their greatest fear is being disliked by others. Famous celebrities who embody a strong "I" in them Robin Williams and Ellen DeGeneres.

05.01.2022 This was an actual conversation I'd overheard the other day with an individual whom I knew had a dominant D-style. D-Style: Hi Jason (the customer), how are you? Jason: Yeah I'm good thanks, yourself? D-Style: Did you receive my quote?... ---------------------------------------------------- This made me think about how the conversation would have gone with the other DISC styles. The I-Style might say: I had a great week! What about you? How was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting? Oh yes I rang about the quote I sent you a few days ago, did you get it? The S-style might say: I'm very well thank you. Hope I'm not disturbing you but I had sent my quote a few days ago and was wondering if you have received it? The C-style might say: I'm very well thank you. I'm calling about the quote I sent on Tuesday afternoon. Did you receive it? Did any of the above sound like what how may have responded? Let me know below!

05.01.2022 What a great week! Many thanks to Ingrid Bayer and Melissa Hillier from the VA Institute who invited me to host an evening webinar on DISC Profiling and how it can benefit their VA Startups and Graduates. Despite having a complete #oops moment with the time-zones, the webinar still started as scheduled (whew!) and I had SO much fun delivering something I'm passionate about. This webinar was jam-packed with DISC insights on:... What contributes to our behaviours Overview of the 4 DISC styles How the 4 DISC styles impact on the way we work Recognising, managing & communicating with the 4 client personality types Have a fabulous week everyone!

04.01.2022 Masterchef 2020. This week in Masterchef, it was Twist Week. This meant that with each challenge, contestants were dropped with an unexpected twist which they would not have seen coming. In last night's challenge, contestants were asked to recreate a top chef's dessert - a complex looking passionfruit & mango meringue. As they scrambled to prep all 9 elements, the twist was announced with just 1 hour to go. ... Their recipes will be taken away. Poh's reaction was captured quite extensively. She looked lost, pacing back and forth and her mind literally went blank. She was stunned and for a moment, simply did not know how to carry on. Eventually she did get her wits together and finished her dish, so well done Poh! Poh's behaviours reminded me very strongly of an S Personality Type. S Types are steady, even-tempered and friendly folks, but don't cope well with change. Pop a change on them and watch them get flustered, lost or overwhelmed. If Poh had a chance to do this all over again, the best thing she can do to prepare herself was to anticipate or preempt changes. Even if she would not know what was coming, setting that mindset would help heaps. #discprofiling #humanbehaviours

03.01.2022 Hello! I do often get asked about the difference between MBTI (also known as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) DISC. Both MBTI and DISC are assessment tools that provide insight into an individual's personality and behavior. They're both widely respected and used by individuals, organisations and corporations worldwide. There are, however, a few notable differences between DISC and MBTI:... #1: The DISC assessment is shorter in length than MBTI - DISC typically has 24-30 questions while most MBTI tests contain up to 90 questions. #2: MBTI display results into 16 four-letter types. DISC focuses primarily on four dominant behavioral types - D/I/S/C. #3: MBTI assumes that personality is fixed and unlikely to change, while DISC is more open to the possibility that different situations and environments might bring out different behavioral traits in an individual. So there you go, these are your 3 "Did-You-Know's". I'm not going to say which tool is better than the other, but I'm definitely a DISC advocate. Let me know of your thoughts below!

03.01.2022 Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of getting a DISC Profiling Report done for a podiatrist. She was a strong blend of both C and S styles - they were on very equal footing (no pun intended)! As an allied health professional, this is such a great profile result as she is in her element, doing what she excels at. ... C-styles value quality, look at the fine details and are perfectionists, while S-styles are people-oriented, warm and patient. I have to say that this is such an excellent combination profile for a podiatrist as patients would be guaranteed of a thorough foot assessment + diagnosis, PLUS be very well looked after by her gentle and caring demeanour. And this is why I really enjoy working on people's DISC profiles! They provide a deep insight into an indvidual's behavioural traits and are a great way of indicating if a person is happy / unhappy their work environment, and why's behind it. Questions about DISC profiling and how it can help you? Fire away!

03.01.2022 There's an exciting update! I've been thinking about creating little DISC titbits where I share my passion and knowledge in DISC Personality Profiling through sound bites. After receiving quite a bit of positive feedback and interest in this, I've been conceptualising and planning away! Each sound bite is intended to provide little gems of DISC and will be under 5 min long to keep things short, sharp and engaging. :D ...
