24.01.2022 NSW Health is calling on people in the Rouse Hill area to get tested if they have even the mildest COVID-19 symptoms after the state’s sewage surveillance progr...am detected traces of the virus in the area. The catchment takes sewage from approximately 120,000 people. Fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 have been detected in samples taken on Thursday 5 November from the sewerage system that drains parts of Quakers Hill, Castle Hill, Annangrove, Kellyville, Box Hill, Kenthurst, Glenhaven, The Ponds, Rouse Hill, North Kellyville, Kellyville Ridge, Beaumont Hills, Stanhope Gardens, Baulkham Hills, Glenwood, Bella Vista, Parklea, Acacia Gardens and Norwest. The positive sewage result can be due to shedding of the virus by someone who may have previously had the illness, with the virus ‘shedding’ through their system for up to six to eight weeks later. NSW Health continues to remind the community to be vigilant for symptoms and come forward for testing. Symptoms like a runny nose or scratchy throat, cough, tiredness, fever or loss of taste or smell can all signal COVID-19. After COVID-19 testing, you must remain isolated until a negative result is received. Find your nearest COVID-19 testing clinic here: https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-an/clinics There are more than 300 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW. Sewage testing for molecular markers of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, started in July, adding another tool in the fight against the global pandemic. There is no evidence COVID-19 is transmitted via wastewater systems.

16.01.2022 We're NOT HAPPY to have to say good-bye to affordable Sunday Funday public transport trips, with opal fare changes from 6th July. Gone is the $2.80 cap for ea...ch person on a Sunday, replaced with $8.05 cap per adult and $4 for children. Which means it will now cost $24.10 for 2 adults and 2 kids to go on a family outing via public transport (rather than $11.20) on Sundays. Definitely a way to encourage families back into their cars and remove the need to increase Parramatta Rivercat services on weekends. On the plus side, there will now be a cap for travel on Saturday and Public Holidays. Heard about the increased discount for off-peak travel (up to 50% from 30% for the next 3 months)? But did you realise that the peak times have also increased? Now if you travel between 6am and 10am or 3pm and 7pm you will have to pay peak rates! This will affect a lot of parents who can't shift their working hours and have children to pick up/ drop off at childcare and school. So while there aren't any fare rate increases, the cost of public transport is definitely going up for lots of families in Western Sydney. How will the changes affect you? Make sure to write to your local State Member of Parliament and let them know what you think of the changes - https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/members//all-members.aspx NSW Public Transport - NSW GOV, Andrew Constance MP, Geoff Lee - MP, Seat of Parramatta, Stuart Ayres we see this as an unfair change at a time when many Western Sydney families are already struggling from the financial impact of covid19.
