24.01.2022 View from our Tai Chi class earlier tonight. Raby Bay, Cleveland.

24.01.2022 Earlier today we had our Walking Stick Seminar. Because of the smaller turn out we got so much more done. Including part of the form, partner work, pad work and defence applications. As you can see in the photos we had lots of fun also. The only injuries was breaking of my walking stick (thanks Liam) and the snapping of my rubber knife (thanks Gilbert) See last photo. Thank you to all who came along. Great Fun.

24.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone. All the best.

22.01.2022 Hi everyone, due to the lockdown there will not be any classes this weekend as well as Monday day classes.

21.01.2022 Tai Chi outdoors, Now that we are starting to get out and about after the lockdown, it gives us the opportunity to practice Tai Chi outdoors once again, especially those who don't have a backyard. If you can practice your Tai Chi outdoors you should do so as the benefits are far greater. Due to work, family commitments most people commence their Tai Chi lessons in the evenings, so the the classes are mostly held indoors. But Tai Chi is an art that em...phasizes natural movement, so it makes sence to practice your Tai Chi a natural enviroment, such as the beach, forest or even in the garden. The advantages of practicing outdoors include fresh air, freedom of movement, exposure to natural light, reduced stress levels and better absorption of chi. But there are always some things to consider before practicing your Tai Chi outdoors. Is the surface flat or uneven as this can effect your balance and your stance. What sort of surface will you be training on, for example is the surface grass, cement, dirt or sand. And there is always findings your bearings. As you get more advanced in your Tai Chi, the movements may require you to face different directions, maybe even turns and spins. This can also make outdoor practice a challange. And then there is always being comfortable to be on public show. So when your next outdoors in the backyard or even going for a walk.....stop and try and do a few moves of your form, don't worry about the phone or what's for lunch, be in the moment, be involved with the form, even if it's only for a few moves, then you can build on from there. Stay positive.

14.01.2022 A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our park session at Thunder Bird Park at Mt Tamborine yesterday. I don't know what happened to the men? The 7.00am start must have been to early for them. We covered a good streatching and warm up routine, Silk Reeling, Shibashi 3, Yang long form, Tai Chi Arthritis, 17 Form and plenty of ball exercises. Look forward to the next one.

07.01.2022 WALKING STICK SEMINAR The Walking Stick, is the potential weapon that you can have with you in plain sight. It also carries with it the element of suprise, because your potential attacker will see it as a form of weakness. The walking stick is one of the fastest and most practical weapons around because the walking stick is so light and generally used with one hand it allows the user a lot of freedom to move around and stay agile.... The sharp whipping action makes it hard for an opponent to block because the walking stick is never committed to just one target. This makes it a great weapon for self- defence. This seminar will give the student a very good understanding of the applications and the principles used. Also shown will be part of the walking stick form, application as well as some locks, holds, strikes and free hitting pad work. Where; Rochedale High School, Priestdale Rd Date; Sunday 25th October 2020 Time; 9.00am-11.30am. Cost; $70, for students repeating $30 Cost; $70 (with DVD). For students repeating $45.

07.01.2022 One of the weapons we teach at the Imperial Tai Chi Academy is the Jian or Straight Sword. It was traditionally regarded as a gentlemen's weapon. The Jian requires great care and subtle handling. Generally considered the most elegant and beautiful of the weapons, the Jian's trademark is finesse, it builds wrist flexability, whole body movement and increases fluidity and sensibility of upper arm joints. It is also an excellent training device for enabling waist and legs to connect to the upper body and hands in a finely co-ordinated manner. It also helps one to relax and not use muscular force.

03.01.2022 Merry Christmas everybody, stay safe on the roads. See you in the New Year.

01.01.2022 Since the lockdown we have been unable to get back into our usual hall hire, so we are temporarily using public space at Raby Bay Harbour Park Cleveland. Great place, but can get a little cool in the evenings. What a dedicated lot they are.
