25.01.2022 Fancy new toolbag, with one of my favourite tools in.

25.01.2022 Years ago I posted quite a few photos of 'people's pets with Pete's power tools'. I guess I forgot about it but this one's a cracker. This is Malakai, a Siberian husky and a flippin monster of a dog, along side a track saw that's fantastic for cutting perfect straight lines and not chipping or marking the materials. I was using the saw about 30cm from his head and he didn't bat an eyelid, refused to get out of the way.

24.01.2022 Hope everyone's had a fantastic relaxing Christmas. Mine's been spent finishing (**) our kitchen and it's not far off. All the main stuff is in and the last few days have been all about 58m2 of new floating floor which is now finished along with my knees. ** by 'finished' I mean apart from more plastering, new coving, painting the walls, painting the ceiling, building bulkheads, installing kick-boards, painting and installing new skirting boards, door and window trim, tiling the splashback, installing the new cooktop when it finally shows up (Yay to Bosch) .... And filling a big skip with the old kitchen which is still all over the lawn. I could probably go on......but otherwise it's pretty much there!

24.01.2022 One of the stranger gifts I've received from a customer. Don't think it was a comment on our work ethic but can't say for sure.

24.01.2022 Got the opportunity to take in this view of Berowra Waters at sunset today. Sadly I was sticking up through a roof, on a ladder, on a balcony, about 30 feet above a pool, on a cliff. Which took the gloss off the view to be honest but at least I can share the photos.

23.01.2022 How was everyone's weekend? Mine's been spent exploding our kitchen, ready for a new one next week.

22.01.2022 Took out 2 old wooden windows, installed lovely shiny aluminium windows with new internal trim. Got very well acquainted with the spiky plant. Bloody thing is lucky to be alive.

22.01.2022 Today I made a tiny teeny door for leprechauns

21.01.2022 Getting fancy, hanging pictures with a frickin laser beam.....

21.01.2022 Wasn't sure everyone liked my last post, so here's another

20.01.2022 Friday night, time for a real fire on the deck. This one's fuelled by offcuts of hardwood decking and some old cypress floorboards. All untreated, so perfect for some marshmallows before the kids go to bed. FYI you can't do this with pine decking as it's impregnated with all kinds of nasties to stop it rotting....

20.01.2022 Can't beat building a fence. Falling tree took it out, tree guys took it away, we rebuilt the fence. Cubby house was not in our scope......

20.01.2022 Haven't done a laundry reno for a couple of months, had to endure travelling all of 200m along my street for this one. We helped with the design and layout. Cupboards, benchtop, splashback, sink and tap from Ikea. Entire Plumbing moved the taps and Simon Caddy Electrical moved the powerpoints for me then we installed the rest. Let me know if you want a tidy, functional laundry too.

20.01.2022 Had the pleasure of working along my own street recently. The house had 3 archways which we removed and squared - off. Framing, sheeting, setting, priming, and then we painted all associated walls to finish the job off. Covering this beadth of service is what @improvemyhome is all about, we take care of everything and have a good clean-up before we leave.

19.01.2022 Been doing a lot of painting this week..... Got to be careful where you leave the paint as you never know what might happen.... https://www.facebook.com/100001691980616/posts/3080303858702650/

18.01.2022 A few weeks ago we squared off the arches above this bar. This week we went back and installed a new timber top. I've always enjoyed hanging around in bars......

17.01.2022 We got rid of the arched windows and made them square. I promise we won't remove any further options to spoil Zippy, George, Geoffrey and Bungle's fun.

15.01.2022 A standard Sunday night.......my life is so exciting.

15.01.2022 This door, to an internal courtyard in St Ives, hadn't been opened for years. The handle mechanism had seized, the keys had been lost, the door its self had rotted right through and it had been painted shut several times. It's now a brand new door, hung with new handles and locks, painted inside and out to match the rest of the house. Hope the occupants can now make more use of their courtyard.

15.01.2022 Today it was a carport in need of TLC. A big carport, with huge Oregon timbers that the beastie's had eaten. One corner was destroyed, and the post holding it up was long gone. I matched the timbers through Berlian Timbers Pty Ltd and we cut away the damage, propping it up with a metal post so the beasties can't get back.

15.01.2022 I'm not the only 1 working hard before Christmas. The truck had to bring 100kgs of gate and a big roll of fencing back from wetherill park today. Coming to a driveway on Easton road in the new year.

15.01.2022 We're not high-end kitchen fitters, but if you're more of a kaboodle / Ikea kind of family we can help for sure..... Fitting the cabinets, cutting the benches, installing the sink and tiling the splashback.

15.01.2022 It's been a busy year at Improvemyhome. We've made all kinds of things, fixed all kinds of things, installed and painted all kinds of things. Walls, floors, ceilings, doors, decks, windows, insulation, fences, kitchens, tiles, pictures, flat-packs, curtains and blinds..... We started the year in 40+ degrees at Wideview school and I finished it yesterday crawling under a floor fixing air-con ducts. I'm so grateful to my customers for supporting us - it really makes me feel like part of this community to think of all the nearby homes we've worked on. I'm also very grateful for all the people who put my name forward whenever someone pops up on facebook looking for help. Have a great New Year everyone. Stay safe, and cool today, and I hope to see many of you in the coming year. Thanks Pete.

15.01.2022 A public service announcement.....

14.01.2022 Look who came to check out the new steps I installed at my place.....

14.01.2022 Built a door / doorway / doorframe this week. Enjoyed every socially distant minute of it. An additional room at the end of a corridor was a source of heat in summer and cold in winter so I installed a doorway with custom glass panel above to let more light down the corridor. My customer will paint the door and stain the frame himself to match its surroundings. At least he said he would.......

13.01.2022 A lovely green cicada checked out our work today.

12.01.2022 Look after your windows and your windows will look after you. These hadn't been looked after at all......we cut away the rot and used Merbau timber to create something stronger and more weather resistant.

10.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone! We started the year with another turdurken of a job - a kitchenette, inside a cupboard, inside a corridor, inside a daycare centre. Very narrow space made it tricky. Cabinets from bunnings. Plumbing - and tiny little sink which was a perfect fit - by entire plumbing. Hayes Electrical connected up the new Powerpoints. Thanks guys!

10.01.2022 We've had 'lock-down laundries' and this week did a lock-down lounge room... Well kinda. This is a garage we divided in half with a new stud wall, leaving a large storage area at the front and a lounge room space for the kids in the back half. My customer will add the lounge, the carpet and the PlayStation and hopes to only see the kids at mealtimes.

10.01.2022 People's pets with Pete's power tools. Lovely cat alongside makita multi tool, after cutting holes in kitchen cabinetry to allow the install of a shiny new dishwasher's pipes and cables (with the multi tool, not the cat).

10.01.2022 Got my PhD in lattice cutting today.

10.01.2022 Added the finishing touches to this kitchen last week, took off old rules, repaired the walls, tiled the splashback and mounted the rangehood. I'm meant to be doing similar work in my own new kitchen but we still can't agree on the tiles.......

08.01.2022 I built this staircase well over a year ago. Had to be made from scratch due to the unusual steepness. Pleased to say it's still standing..... And doesn't look half bad!

07.01.2022 Quite proud of this one.... Took out a knackered old wall, falling over due to tree roots. Put in a small retaining wall to take the strain then a shiny new fence to look pretty in front of it, finished with decking boards for a much cleaner look than rough fence palings.

07.01.2022 This pergola needed a bit of TLC....

07.01.2022 Lovely new gutter and Downpipe installed.

06.01.2022 This window frame in mt Colah had rotted through, allowing water through to the inside which in turn made the internal timber rotten. But it really didn't take long to replace the woodwork on both sides, sealing the weather out, and some fresh paint makes it look as good as new.

05.01.2022 Another 'lockdown laundry' last week. Poured a concrete floor, laid a floating floor in top, fitted new skirting boards, tiled the doorstep, planed the doors, rehung the screen door, fitted the cupboards, benchtop and splashback (Bunnings), sink and tap. With help from Entire plumbing and Simon Caddy Electrical.

05.01.2022 Modernising the street appeal of this Berowra Heights home. The timber trim didn't match the rest of the house, and had gone rotten in places, so we took it off, taped and plastered the joints and marks in the cement board, installed some new treated timbers then painted the lot.

04.01.2022 Here's a Wierd one.... A load of pavers had subsided and dropped into a hole. Turns out the hole was massive and the pavers were supported by a mixture of beer and lemonade bottles.

04.01.2022 I once ate a turdurken which is a chicken baked inside a duck, inside a turkey. Or something like that. It was good, although not one for the vegans. This is a bench, inside a fence, inside a deck, all baked together in the hot westleigh sunshine. 100% vegan. I'll get my coat.

03.01.2022 Don't you just hate it when you're happily doing your job but you realise your customer's standing there watching you......

03.01.2022 I buy a lot of screws, including quite a lot from 'scrooz.com'. Crilly likes them anyway. These are 75mm and 50mm galvanised hex-head bugles for any animal lovers keen to know what works with pets. She's been sat on this box most of the last 3 days, apart from breaks for food and an occasional sh!t in the garden.

03.01.2022 Fixing an oven today on Gwandalan Crescent Berowra. How's this for a view from your kitchen window.....

03.01.2022 How about this for a smart new laundry? New benchtop and cabinet, new sink and taps, new tiles and shelves. Wiring was moved after our work to get the cables out of the way, and shelving was left unattached as our customer wanted to paint the walls herself. Multi-trade flexibility is the key to Improve My Home's success.

02.01.2022 Glad I'm not working today. Squeezing into this space under some stairs last week wasn't much fun!

02.01.2022 Take only photos, leave only laundries.
