17.01.2022 Wnat to go to sea? if you are Here is your chance!!!! The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme is an organisation that provides young Australians with a unique, challenging and inspirational experience at sea. Voyages are conducted throughout the year from a range of ports in Australia, with the objective of increasing self-awareness, developing teamwork and leadership skills and creating a strong sense of community responsibility amongst members of the youth crew. Through our broa...der NSWBC networks, ABAC has been provided an opportunity to sponsor an Indigenous student, apprentice, or trainee to be part of the youth crew on one of the voyages early in 2014. The purpose of this e-mail is to give you a heads up about the program and outline the selection process. Firstly, this is not a competition; the person undertaking the voyage will be selected through an application and interview process. The reason for this is that whomever undertakes the voyage must have a strong desire to do so, and we need to be able to make an assessment of their suitability and capability. Therefore, we will soon be sending a communication to our customers outlining the scheme, and will back this up with a series of promotional activities designed to attract a strong pool of applicants. Eligibility criteria will published on our website, but essentially the applicants need to be Australian Citizens, between 16 and 23 years of age at the time of voyage, in good health, and weigh less than 120kg (so they can climb the mast). This is a great opportunity to support the indigenous community and the selected applicant will have the experience of their lifetime. Nominations are open now and will close through until late September. The aim is for the winner to be announced in November, with the voyage to commence on 22 January 2014 from Devonport. I’m not looking for this to be restricted to ABAC clients; the intent is to market to the broader indigenous community. Therefore if you know of anybody who may be interested please feel free to pass this on. The application form and relevant details are attached, and the link to their website is http://www.youngendeavour.gov.au.
