25.01.2022 Yesterday I joined the Inala Elders for morning tea and a chat about their views on Queenslands Path to Treaty. Their wisdom and experience provide great insig...hts into how a Treaty or Treaties might work for Queensland. With the release of the Path to Treaty in Queensland consultation paper its a great chance for everyone to get involved. See more

25.01.2022 To anyone whom may have been informed that the learner licence is on tomorrow, please disregard that information. The learner licence will be held on Wednesday the 18th December 2019. 10am at headspace Inala, located in the PCYC. Sorry for the miscommunication.... 24.01.2022 UPDATE ON OUR CLINIC In response to the current COVID-19 situation, we would like to thank our clients and the community for your patience during this time. Th...e Inala Indigenous Health Service is still open however some of our service delivery has changed. We will continue to provide updates on these changes as they occur. Please contact our clinic reception on 3101 4222 if you have any queries.

23.01.2022 The Inala Elders wish to advise the community that our doors will be shut for the general public. This comes from the advice of health officials in regards to protecting our Elders and the spread of COVID-19. Unfortunately this means our events have all been cancelled or post poned including the Learner Licence program. We ask that if the community wish to make contact with the Elders that they call or email with any issues that they may have. ... The Elders fall under the highly vunerable category and ask that the community and general public respect that this is being done as a precaution. We understand that some Elders and Elderly of our community are already feeling down and distressed by our community events being cancelled or post poned. If you feel like you are currently struggling in this time please reach out. In order to keep up the spirits of our Elders and Elderly we will still be having yarns on the phone and in person but in much smaller groups (Only for those whom are not sick or exhibiting any flu like symptoms). If your interested please let us know and we can arrange a time for a yarn. Our Elders social and emotional wellbeing is just as important to us as their physical health. These small yarns are aimed to help support eachother in this time and also to help our Elders and Elderly get support they may be struggling with. This may be just feeling isolated or struggling to find basic needs to get by. We will do our very best to support the community in this time and if we can help we will. We are also working very closely with many other organizations to support Elders whom are struggling. We also remind any members of the community that come in contact with our Elders or Elderly to please not touch them, this includes handshakes, hugs and kisses. We understand this is a normal approach for most of us to address and Elders but in times like this its more respectful and supportive by mainiting your distance. Our Elders are will to be supportive of our community but we must be supportive of them too. We hope the community is well and if you have any issues please call or email us. We hope this all is over soon so we can get back to running our regular activities! Much Love, Inala Elders

06.01.2022 The Inala Elders wishes to respectfully acknowledge the 13th of February 2021 as being the 13th Anniversary of the Australian Government's National Apology to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. The apology delivered on the 13th February 2008 by Former Prime Minister Hon Kevin Rudd acknowledged Australia's wrong doings in history which resulted in the Stolen Generations. The apology was offered in direct response to the 1995 National Inquiry into the Separation... of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families by the Human Rights and Equality Commission, which later lead to the Bringing Them Home report which was tabled in Parliament of May 1997. The 13th of February has become a significant day of reflection for our people marking the start of an acknowledgement to a very painful history.
