02.01.2022 To pot directly into your decorative pot or to leave your green friend in their growers pot. TO POT OR NOT TO POT? That is the question. That depends. The benefits of keeping your indoor plants in their growers pots within a cache pot. 1. It’s easy to slip that growers pot off and check how the root zone is going. Is it getting crowded down there? Are there any pest issues lurking below the surface and effecting the health and vigour of your plant? Easy to identify poor w...atering practices, that is it’s easy to see if a plant is not being watered evenly or if it’s being overwatered resulting in rot. 2. Makes watering outside or in the sink much easier, especially if you have heavy cache pots. 3. Helps you to understand the weight of a wet pot verses the weight of a dry pot. 4. Allows you to easily swap pots and restyle your space. I personally prefer to keep my indoor plants in their growers pots (except my Thai Constellation which is in terra-cotta, and my Pilea peperomiodes which is in ceramic pot with saucer) of course if you are using self watering pots, you absolutely need to pot directly into them or they won’t work.
