25.01.2022 Petition: State Funds for Temporary Visa Holders The Premier of Tasmania Peter Gutwein has taken the brave step of establishing a state fund to help temporary visa holders and their families who find themselves in financial hardship. A petition has now been created to gather support for urging the other state leaders to follow Premier Gutwein’s lead and establish funds to help temporary visa holders who are experiencing financial hardship here’s the link: http://chng.it/XrK...jXHLsYd We as an industry can and must do better than to tell these people and their families to "go home" if they find themselves in financial hardship. We have a moral duty as a society not to abandon members of our community simply because they, through no fault of their own, find themselves in temporary financial strife due to a pandemic that no one could have predicted. Please, let’s look at the big picture and get together on this issue which concerns all of us and our clients. This is an issue that affects all of us and many of our clients.

09.01.2022 Una portavoce per il dipartimento della salute ha dichiarato a SBS Italian che "alla luce della pandemia di COVID-19, il periodo coperto dall'accordo è stato pr...orogato in modo tale che ai cittadini italiani che ne hanno il diritto la cui copertura Medicare è scaduta e che sono bloccati in Australia verrà rilasciata una nuova carta Medicare". Chi è impossibilitato a fare rientro in Italia e vuole estendere Medicare deve contattare Services Australia (il nome dato ad una serie di servizi, incluso Medicare) al numero 132 011, ha sottolineato la portavoce. Se il visto è in scadenza bisogna prima estendere il visto e poi contattare Medicare. Contattaci per estendere il visto.

05.01.2022 Press Release from Minister Alan Tudge this morning: Working Holiday Makers: exempt from 6 month work limitation working in health, aged and disability care, agriculture and food processing, and childcare. Eligible for a second or third WHV afterwards. 482/457s: if stood down but not laid-off, i.e. unpaid leave effectively, will maintain visa validity without breach and able to lodge new 457/482 where business is still sponsoring. Businesses able to reduce work hours with...out breach. Able to access $10K super this financial year. Those with 4-year 457/482s re-employed can count time spent in Australia towards PR. NZ444: in Australia before 26 Feb 2001 will have access to welfare and JobKeeper payments. Those arrived after 2001 have access to JobKeeper but not welfare. Everyone else should consider departing if unable to support themselves. International Students: if here longer for 12 months, can access superannuation to support themselves if unable to rely on family support from overseas. Some institutions providing fee discounts. If working in aged care and as nurses then can work longer than 40 hours a fortnight already. MOST IMPORTANTLY: those already working in supermarkets on extended work rights will have these work rights cease on 1 May 2020 to normal 40 hours a fortnight because more Australians are going to be recruited to fulfill these roles. Visitor Visas: return home if unable to extend stay or rely on family support.
