25.01.2022 Paddling is exercise! Finally a bit of good news for our paddling community. After getting caught up with recreational boating, the Victorian Chief Medical Officer has confirmed that paddle sports and rowing are 'within the scope of exercise'. Unfortunately for us though, boat ramps, piers, jetties, and other marine infrastructure remain closed. I have seen a few landings on the Yarra taped up, so it may be difficult to find spots to put in a boat until these restrictions are... lifted. Our clubhouse also remains closed. If you are paddling or doing any other exercise, please remember to maintain physical distance. As I said in our last message to members, the committee will be working on ways to ensure that all INCC Yarra Paddlers can stay connected over the short-term and that when recreational activities return to normal, we can re-activate the club with even greater involvement and engagement with members. We would love to hear from our members with creative and fun ideas - please message the page or email one of our committee members. Here is the latest Paddle Victoria announcement regarding COVID-19 restrictions. https://vic.paddle.org.au/coronavirus-covid-19-status/

25.01.2022 Clubhouse to close to prevent spread of COVID-19 We are very sorry to advise that Yarra City Council has directed us to close the clubhouse from midnight tonight, Wednesday March 25. Members who want to collect their boat/paddle should do so tonight if at all possible.... If you are collecting your boat, we remind you to continue to observe the guidelines for social distancing and hand hygiene. We will endeavor to provide other opportunities for people to collect their boat. Please keep reading your emails from us for an update. Remember - if you are self-isolating, feeling unwell or have spent time with anyone who has - DO NOT come to the clubhouse - please avoid having more than a couple of people in the building at one time - members should avoid use of the kitchen, shower and change facilities in the clubhouse - if you do test positive for the virus and have been to the clubhouse, please contact Candice via email or on 0431106081. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO NOW? - Go get your boat! Please also read the advice and updates on COVID-19 from Paddle Victoria and Sports Australia. Check back from time to time as well. If you have any questions, please contact Candice.

21.01.2022 Corona virus update affecting both the national canoe polo and canoe marathon races. See article for more details about the postponement of these events. Hope everyone is staying safe. https://paddle.org.au///16/coronavirus-covid-19-update-1/

20.01.2022 The purpose of this message is to update you on our progress to get the clubhouse open. We are hopeful that we will be able to open the clubhouse in stages, with the first being access and use of private boats. The use of shared equipment will be more complicated to arrange, but we will work on it. Following the updated Restricted Activity Directions issued by the Victorian Chief Health Officer on Monday 11 May, yesterday (Thursday 14 May), Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV...) published Return to Play Guidance for community sport and recreation organisations. Combined, these State Government documents provide State Sporting Associations (SSAs) the necessary information to prepare ‘return to play plans’ for their sports. Yarra Council will need to evaluate all of the above information (once available) before confirming the requirements for different sports and locations in Yarra. I have been in touch with Paddle Vic and they have promised to provide Yarra Council with a ‘return to play plan’ by Monday. This document will inform Council decision making around scheduling and access to facilities. We will communicate details of the plan to reopen the clubhouse as soon as we can. Until then the clubhouse will remain closed. Thank you all and for your ongoing patience, adaptability and resilience during this time. Stay safe everyone! Kind regards Debbie Bennett President, INCC Yarra Paddlers

08.01.2022 Update on COVID-19 The restrictions and efforts to 'flatten the curve' are changing every day and have increased since we communicated late last week. As of today, we are still able to paddle - as long as we minimise the risk of transmission, particularly when people are around the clubhouse. We have updated our advice from last week with some extra precautions that are highlighted below. The committee is constantly monitoring the advice from government and sporting peak bodi...Continue reading
