24.01.2022 Sat 4th Jan 2020: Data from satellite passes showing the Alps and East Gippsland fires from this morning with the cold-front clearly visible just to the west of Melbourne. Note that Satellite data takes time to upload to base stations and smoke, cloud and canopy can reduce the accuracy. #vicFires #gippsnews

24.01.2022 Omeo (East Gippsland) Sat 4th Jan 2020. The Echuca fire brigade which is just under 400km away by road were at the Omeo Recreation Reserve, home to the mighty "Ranges" footy club, to watch the Armed forces evacuate those who wished to leave town after the town was ringed by a number of escalating fires. Video by Echuca Country Fire Authority with thanks and best wishes to the crew.

19.01.2022 We've created a map that you can view past fires on Victorian Crown Lands from 1927 to the current season. It allows you to filter the data by year as well as providing some key years including 1939 and Black Saturday Source: land.vic.gov.au and EMSINA https://ia-aus.carto.com//4cf0d642-49ba-4435-bb93-89/embed #vicFires #AustraliaisBurning #ausFires #nswFires

14.01.2022 The "Corryong" fire and it's NSW partner. The red area is satellite heat detection from Sat 4th to early Sun 5th Jan. The grey area is since Boxing Day. Cloud, smoke and canopy affect the quality and hotspots are accurate from 250m to 1km depending on the technology and position of the Satellite.

14.01.2022 Three visualisations from morning, afternoon and night around Omeo from passing satellites today. Source NASA, NOAA, S-NPP. Smoke, canopy and cloud will reduce the accuracy.

04.01.2022 Two Satellite heat detection visualisations from today around Omeo/Swifts Creek. The first is from this morning, the second this afternoon showing the expansion. Accuracy of heat detection is within 250m to 1.2km depending on the satellite and where it is in relation to the heat source. It is more accurate if the pass is directly overhead.

04.01.2022 We have a request from a bushfire response team Suggestions for dinner between Traralgon and Bairnsdale at a pub of restaurant doing it tough please? #gippsnews
