24.01.2022 This guy is doing his bit for inclusion!
24.01.2022 Hope you can take a moment to listen to my latest episode of Streets of Your Town podcast where I interview the youngest sitting member of Australia’s Federal p...arliament, Senator Jordon Steele-John. At only 25, he’s also Australia’s youngest Senator. And he’s fighting for urgently needed legislative reforms to the Disability Royal Commission saying the investigation he fought so hard for is now at risk because people’s evidence is not properly protected. I don’t think the system ever really wanted young people or disabled people to be in Parliament, to be quite frank. I’ve used the opportunity at every moment to try to blast the hinges off the doors that block us as young people and as disabled people from decision making spaces. See more
23.01.2022 Our next public hearing will examine use of psychotropic medication as a chemical restraint. A chemical restraint occurs when medication is not used to treat a... diagnosed mental disorder, a physical illness or a physical condition but used for the purpose of influencing a person’s behaviour. Witnesses will tell the Royal Commission how chemical restraints impair a person’s human rights and freedoms. The sixth public hearing of the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability will take place at the Fair Work Commission from September 22. It will be live-streamed on the Royal Commission website from 10am. For more information, read our latest media release on our website. https://disability.royalcommission.gov.au//royal-commissio
22.01.2022 Great work Space4cyclingbne and Jonathan Sri, Councillor for The Gabba!!!
22.01.2022 All I want for Xmas is...... life insurance
22.01.2022 Representation is crucial and should be a matter of course but so should targets of #disabled people in the workforce, access to stores etc. Don't get caught up with just one aspect of #inclusion. 22.01.2022 This could be a good step forward by Mark Bailey MP - Labor for Miller At the very least it's acknowledgement that as I have said for year the current level of consultation simply isn't working. Its not working for government and certainly not working for #disabled people. There is still plenty to fall out from this before we see whether it will be effective though. Group make up is key with actual disabled voices prioritised. Governance is crucial. Joint interpretations of ...words like 'consultation' and '#codesign' & state/local gov cooperation. For groups like this to be taken seriously by the disabled community their first moves must be to insist on fully costed and funded business cases to ensure Qld meets its legislative responsibilities with immediate effect. This is what creates true outcomes for us. #inclusion
21.01.2022 This should have been a codesigned process from the start!

20.01.2022 It takes true talent to ruin a fun good news pick me up story of a rescue dog. But leave it to humanity to do it! Unfortunately it shows that its not always the words we use (individual with a disability is a pretty good term) but the meaning behind it that shows our society and culture still has some way to go! 19.01.2022 My wife works as a teacher aide. She had bus duty today. A boy asked if he could have a turn using the megaphone to call bus numbers. She naively said 'sure its the last day'. Predictably he took his chance to yell 'PENIS'. This made my day!!! #FridayMotivation #FridayFunDay
18.01.2022 Holidays are tough! #summervibes #summersun #coffeetime #countrylife
18.01.2022 Getting real sick and tired of seeing the same old access advisors appointed by government. The same ones that sign off on the bare minimum if that. Don't push for innovation. Have no interest in community expectations. It's a cycle we MUST break! #Inclusion #DisabledRights

17.01.2022 We must be careful of those we allow to represent us and call out those who don't!
16.01.2022 I said I would share more about our time at Heron Island One word. AMAZING!

13.01.2022 Today is International Day of Sign Languages (IDSL). IDSL is a special day aimed at raising awareness of the importance of sign language - not just to those wh...o are Deaf, but society as a whole in terms of human rights and the ability to be heard and understood. Despite there being over 70 million Deaf people in the world, only 2% of this number has access to sign language education. Sadly many countries do not recognise Sign language as a language but only as a mere gesture. International Day of Sign Languages works to promotes human rights and sign language rights throughout the world. If you are interested in learning more about Sign Language please visit on the organisations listed below: Deaf Australia Inc Deafblind Australia Deafness Forum of Australia #IDSL #IDSL2020 #SignLanguage #deaf #Auslan
13.01.2022 Anyone Gold Coast based want to try something new and innovative?
12.01.2022 Still counts as #inclusion in my book
11.01.2022 Just read the glossy newsletter of a disability service provider. No less than 3 articles pushing the virtues of disabled people volunteering. Paid work people, come on! Low expectations driving societies culture is a thing! #inclusion #disability #employment
10.01.2022 Perhaps controversial but here we go. You should go on holiday WITHOUT your adult disabled children. Unless they specifically show an interest in going where you are going. Not simply going with you. Last week my wife and I went on our first holiday together alone in at least 5 years. Our adult disabled daughter went away somewhere else with her support worker, to somewhere she wanted to go, with someone who is her own age, they did things ladies their age do. She had a ball.... On our holiday there was an adult #disabled person traveling with his elderly parents. Clearly at times not enjoying the experience. At all times right by his parents side. I wonder what good came of this for him or his parents? The NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme is many things. But one positive is for our daughter to have power in her hands to do as she pleases. I get wanting to #safeguard. I get wanting to #care. But sometimes giving up authority is the most caring thing you can do.
09.01.2022 Some much needed #summersun and #mentalhealthbreak today
09.01.2022 Thanks for the chat Jake Briggs mate. Always a pleasure to talk inclusion! For some of us it's beyond a job. It's life.
09.01.2022 No demands for special treatment, no hissy fits. Respect for individual circumstances. All class. Almost as if disabled people are sadly used to adversity and tough choices....
08.01.2022 EXCITING NEWS and a huge THANK YOU!! WOW: Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman and family are supporting us to buy an additional Trishaw, with an amazing donation of... $20,000!! We can’t expand without support like this. This trishaw will mean we can bring the joy of rides to more people, in more places on the Sunshine Coast and surrounds. Almost daily we’re getting calls from individuals or organisations hoping we can help them, just this week we locked in rides for two more aged care and disability services....but more about that in later posts.... TODAY we want to say a huge THANK YOU to Keith and Nicole and family for their generosity, and for their words of support and encouragement for Cycling Without Age Sunshine Coast. When the new trishaw arrives (hopefully around Christmas) it’ll be put to great use...WE’RE EXCITED!
08.01.2022 #AustraliaDay the one day a year the Aussie #speedos get a run. Now accepting offers not to show the results
07.01.2022 Looking for #disabled peoples input. In my National Inclusive Transport Advocacy Network - NITAN chair role I have been asked to investigate a submission to the Assessing Fitness to Drive enquiry. Anecdotally we have seen more of a focus when using NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme funding for driving aids. Is this true? Have you seen an increase in the hoops you have had to jump through? https://www.ntc.gov.au//assessing-fitness-drive-guideline-
07.01.2022 Supportive of this in principle. Depends on what you read as to what will be the result for the disability parks along here, relocation or removable though there needs to be dialogue. Cr Ryan Murphy
07.01.2022 School holidays when you are a sole trader is tough. Work doesn't get done without you doing it. But sometimes the boring submission you should be writing just has to wait! #timemanagement #daddydaughtertime #workfromhome
06.01.2022 Interpretation aside, unless the number of abuse cases is 0 then its too many.

02.01.2022 It was the heart-warming gesture that 'saved 2020', but it was also just another example of why women's footy is more than just a game. Welcome to the Yeronga Sth Brisbane Football Club
01.01.2022 Damn salt water meant wheel was stuck on.
