02.01.2022 We know that too many people with disability have both seen and experienced violence, abuse, neglect or exploitation. We also know that some people who want to share their story with the Disability Royal Commission (DRC) need support to do this. Free, independent and confidential counselling and advocacy support is available for people who need it because of their experiences, or to engage with the DRC. If you need support or want to find out more, visit www.dss.gov.au/disabi...lity-royal-commission-support #DisabilityRC #DisabilityRCsupport Image description: 6 people, some with visible disabilities, facing the camera. 02.01.2022 Many people with disability who want to tell their story to the Disability Royal Commission need to know their information will stay confidential after the Royal Commission has ended. This is necessary to keep people safe sometimes from providers they still rely on for support. It isn’t right that only people who give information at a Private Hearing can have their information kept confidential after the Royal Commission has ended. That is why we have asked the Attorney-Gen...eral to introduce legislation to protect the confidentiality of information given to the Disability Royal Commission in ANY written submission: https://www.inclusionaustralia.org.au/open-letter-to-the-a/ AFDO - Australian Federation Of Disability Organisations Children and Young People with Disability Australia Disability Advocacy Network Australia - DANA First Peoples Disability Network National Ethnic Disability Alliance People with Disability Australia Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA) Disability Royal Commission

02.01.2022 The NDIS has told us for months that the proposed changes to the scheme are about fairness and consistency. The disability sector has expressed consistent conc...ern that the real issue is cost-cutting. It seems that our concerns have been justified. That's Catherine McAlpine from Inclusion Australia - one of the many, many disability sector organisations who have been campaigning against proposed changes to the NDIS. More leaked documents from the NDIA show a new "Sustainability Action Taskforce" has been set up and "will make immediate changes to slow growth in participant numbers, slow growth in spend per participant and strengthen operational discipline, in accordance with the requirements of the NDIS Act and Rules, the three-page document, marked sensitive, says. https://www.theguardian.com//ndis-cost-cutting-taskforce-t Email the Minister for the NDIS Linda Reynolds https://everyaustraliancounts.com.au/hands-off/ Send in your Hands off our NDIS photo https://everyaustraliancounts.com.au/send-in-your-hands-of/ #NDIS #NDISMakeItWork #HandsOffOurNDIS (Image description: Photo of new NDIS Minister Linda Reynolds at Parliament House. 02.01.2022 The Australian Government is thinking about introducing legislation that means all new housing has to be accessible.
