19.01.2022 Writing job applications this weekend? Take time to also do something for your self. Here are part 2 of my tips for looking at your CV from a different perspective and reflecting on all of the possibilities it contains.... All those times where you coached and trained other people, could you do that under your own name?... All of your networks, the people you have worked with over the years. Instead of asking them for a job, solve their problems or help them to achieve their goals instead. The organisations you worked for, using your knowledge of them to develop and sell them solutions to their problems. The courses/learning that you did and enjoyed, can you use that knowledge in starting your business? Now take hold of those opportunities and go and create value for yourself and others... Take steps to get started... https://bit.ly/2ZMu7RE Or give me a call on 0407 676. 800, I’m always up for a chat about possibilities. Tag someone who could do with some weekend inspiration Link to part 1 here https://bit.ly/33oDl7d #careerpivot #careertransition #jobapplications #jobhustle #inspiration

18.01.2022 If a lack of capital is holding you back from starting a business, what if you didn’t need capital? What if the best approach is to launch fast, cheap and lean? Here are 4 reasons why it makes sense to minimise your spend BEFORE you launch:... 1. Many businesses make significant changes to their offer and target post launch. Contact with customers and experience from being in business is the best teacher. 2. The world is changing quickly don’t risk building something people don’t want. Keep agile. 3. Once launched, you can add more features based on feedback from paying customers 4. It’s possible there is a lot of free software out there, cheap hacks and work arounds. In the past I have made prototypes out of cardboard to show to clients. It’s about whether the idea solves the client’s problems, not how polished that idea looks on the outside. If you start lean you are in good company. For example Mailchimp, Shopify and Lynda Learning are businesses that started cheap and grew without outside capital. Is capital needed for a business? In the comments below, let me know if you disagree, agree or have another opinion.https://bit.ly/3dyP5XT Of interest if you have experienced #redundancy #redundant or are #opentowork or in #careertransition #leanstartup

18.01.2022 The genesis behind many successful businesses is founders solving their own problems. Reed Hastings, annoyed by a $40 late fine for a video, was inspired to launch Netflix's subscription model. Sara Blakely was unable to buy suitable underwear for the fashionable pants that she'd bought, so she designed her own and launched Spanx. Solving our own problems is just one of the many approaches for coming up with an idea for a business.... Get started in business through small group coaching. In a supportive environment, explore HOW to: *WEEK 1. Find an idea that is a good fit for your lifestyle, personal interests and purpose. *WEEK 2. Identify customer needs that you can satisfy, including useful innovation frameworks. Learn step by step approaches for validating your ideas with customer feedback. *WEEK 3. 16.01.2022 Disruption creates business opportunity because new needs emerge for customers. Customers' usual ways of thinking and behaving are shaken up and they are open to new products and services. In fact they need new products and services to meet the fresh demands that the crisis is placing on them. The Global Financial Crisis (GFC) for us Aussies (or Great Recession for the rest of the world) - starting 2008 - was also tough time. But the founders of these businesses saw opportuni...ty. 14.01.2022 Starting a business involves a journey into the unknown. Perhaps risk is looming large for you: + What if no one buys? + What if this ends up being a waste of time and money?... + What if I end up really embarrassed? How do we tame RISK? How do we get our risks to a point where we feel we are managing them, not them managing us? In itself risk isn’t bad. It is risk that gives us the thrill of climbing a mountain that we didn’t think we could climb. We have risk to thank for that feeling of accomplishment when we ski a slope that we thought was too step for us. And when you launch your business and you look back with pride at your achievement, you will be glad that you overcome these risks. So how do you tame and minimise these risks? You do it by validating your business idea checking that it is a good fit for you, your customer and that it is viable. Check out the link in the bio or https://bit.ly/2YZdDox See more

09.01.2022 Sometimes the options in front of us are wellunattractive. Rather than be constrained by them, we can see them as a springboard to launch us into something much more imaginative. David Stewart, editor of Ageist, describes a time when he was with someone who ordered off-menu at Nobu restaurant in New York and how the creativity of the experience blew his mind.
