03.01.2022 InConcert Music was privileged to honour Dr. Chandrabhanu OAM, for his trail blazing contribution to multicultural arts in Australia for the last 46 years and for his lifetime body of work in choreographing the full 24 songs of Geeta Govinda of Poet Jayadeva. An oil painting by Murali Surya of the Maestro was presented during the felicitation ceremony, followed by glowing speeches by Dr. Jayanth Bapat OAM, Adjunct Research fellow at Monash University, Spiritual Leader and Pu...rohit for the Hindu community, Mr. Chidambaram Srinivasan, Former Multi-cultural commissioner and current Board Member of Multi-cultural Arts Victoria and Steve Dimopoulos, Sitting MP for Oakleigh, representing Hon Richard Wynne MP, Minister for Multicultural Affairs) Dr. Chandrabhanus contribution is significant in the history of Indian art development in Australia. It is a pioneering effort in both Bharata Natyam and Odissi dance art forms and Indian classical music. His achievements are monumental, when one considers him being a full time dancer, in a country foreign to Indian arts and having to be his own promoter. InConcert Music are proud to celebrate our very own Australian artistic contributions !
