23.01.2022 Our own Village Fest promo flyer with venues and times.

23.01.2022 Thanks Blue Eagle Productions. Deja vu can happen again! Indaba reformation for Village Festival 2017. These guys are my brothers - thanks Scott and Brad.

21.01.2022 Hi all. Latest updates: I've joined a hard rocking bunch of chaps in a band called 'Illicit Symphony'. Pub rock, but with a touch of class and glamour. All original material, and following the Aussie tradition of good, honest Rock music played by real musicians with real instruments, in an environment of sweat, coloured lights, and smoke machines! Sadly, no fusion, or lengthy guitar solos (but I'm trying!). Please (if you like) check out the old band videos (before I, Al...bert and Thomas Subarto, joined) on Youtube. I suggest 'Burning Bridges' and 'When You Love'. I hope to be seeing you at a venue near you soon. And - I'm now teaching online! Yes, its true! But I'm still trying to get more familiar with the whole Zoom thing. My new online students are happy, but I've decided to offer one free online lesson to all who want ti become better guitarists, and aimed in particular at my dear old students from Brisbane (1990 -2010). there's still work to be done, people. Please give me a yell anytime, even for a catch up. Cheers, all. Clyde. See more

20.01.2022 Please check out these guys - stunning music played by wonderful guitarists! Nambour 3 April.

20.01.2022 Hello there, everyone. Sorry for the sooooo long delay between posts. Janet and I have now been in Gympie for one year, and gee whiz - its been a bit tricky getting a new version of the Clyde Schipke Group happening! The good news is that I'm now rehearsing a new band, tentatively called 'PARADIGM ROAD', after the little road in the bush near Yeppoon. PR will be playing my originals, plus a selection of covers. I found a great bass player (Graham Russell) in Buderim. G'...s a lefty, plays 5 string fretless bass (so cool!), a Pommie, and into Yes, King Crimson, etc, and now (of course!) Allan Holdsworth. We're rehearsing with one of the most renowned drummers on the Sunshine Coast - Jason Bray. These guys are very skilled players, and so fast at learning complex stuff! I'm really looking forward to performing with them. There are a few new tunes in the pipeline, but the first step is to get a good 45min set happening. I'm slowly being dragged into the 20th Century, and I hope to be in the 21st soon after, so I'm hoping to have some footage/sound etc up here soon. Stay close to the wireless! Young Clyde. See more

20.01.2022 Hi there! I'm restarting my private guitar and bass guitar tutoring for 2020 this week. Looking forward to a great year, and to meeting some great students. If you're interested in learning guitar and/or bass, just give me a call. I teach students high school age and older, from beginner to very advanced, in most styles, and I'm based in Gympie. If you're totally new to music, or need some polishing or inspiration, or in a musical rut, I'll be able to help. Clyde 0409063267

18.01.2022 Here's a word from our other new guitarist. The Maestro, Clyde Schipke. Welcome to the IS Family. It's great to have you on board!

16.01.2022 Great opportunity to hear world class music at Cooran Hall - Sat 23rd June. Tickets also available at the door.

14.01.2022 This is what I'm talking about.

14.01.2022 So here we go - the final times for the Clyde Schipke Group's performances at this year's Village Festival. If you like your Jazz rocky, and your Rock jazzy, we are the band for you! Music on the edge, with risks, and unencumbered passion! Saturday 12 Aug. 11.30am to 12.30pm My workshop on Guitar Improvisation at the Queen Street Community Hall. $15. I'll be looking at how we can take a basic scale (and others) and use it for more interesting solos. Players of all leve...ls are welcome. I'll be giving out handouts, but bring a notepad and pen, questions, and maybe your guitar. Feel free to record. Should be lots of fun!! Saturday 4pm to 5pm at the Strand Hotel. Me, Scott Dean on drums, and Brad Wenham on bass. Instrumental Jazz Fusion. We'll be playing some of our old stuff (INDABA), a few of my new tunes that you may know, plus an Allan Holdsworth tune (Proto Cosmos). I'm so looking forward to playing with Scott and Brad again. Both guys are true masters of their instruments, and we plan to celebrate our joint passion for melodic exploratory music. Sunday 2pm to 3pm at the Strand Hotel again. Same as above, but we will probably be hotter. At 4pm the iconic Kevin Borich will be playing, followed by a bits-and -pieces jam. Borich was one of my idols when I was a lad. Should be a fantastic afternoon of blood and guts Blues and Fusion. These performances will probably be the last for me here for quite awhile. Thank you everyone for your wonderful support over the last 6 years for 'different' music. I've thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you, my friends and bandmates - Tom Henderson, Julian Ireland, Rod Williams, Ross McIntyre, Glen Menzies, Tim Sheppard, and Steve Price for sharing the dream. See you all next weekend!! Clyde.

12.01.2022 Evening all. Sorry for my non-presence here for awhile. Life is...! We are now quite settled in Gympie in our 100+ year old cottage, and all is fine. Cats, dogs, and humans are having a ball. I'm still practicing like a crazyman, and currently I'm consolidating my guitar concepts for Diminished and other Altered Dominant forms. These include 4 note per string patterns, and hybrid picking. Band wise, sadly, the Clyde Schipke Group has only one member at the moment (me).... I've been looking from Gympie to Brisbane for a good Bass guitarist, and a good drummer, but no interest yet. I'm beginning to think that the music world has moved to another place in the last 10 years. It seems that here, bands are 'reactive' - they feel that audiences want basic funk, old pub rock, or reggae. I know that there is, and always will be, an audience for more, shall I say, 'Cerebral' music, but apparently few players now 'have the time'. A player said to me that 'People (ie audiences) are dumber now'. I disagree, and in fact feel that many musicians have lost the fire for experimentation and exploration. Dare I say, I believe that many musicians have become lazy - yes - lazy. I learnt many years ago to never underestimate an audience, or a market. I will always be a 'proactive' musician. I haven't done any composing for a few months, but there are 3 new potentials in the works, awaiting a band to complete them for. I hope to post the last complete tune ("Monomania") somewhere online soon. Please keep your ears and eyes open for it. A big Hi and Thanks to my old bandmates in Yeppoon. Another big Hi and Thanks to all my wonderful old students and friends there. I hope you are still practicing! This month saw the second anniversary of Allan Holdsworth's passing. He would have been 72. For many musicians (myself included), his passing marked the end of an era. No other player has come close to his approach. I said at the time of his death that 'Holdsworth was not at the edge; he WAS the edge'. A lot of the fire for players around the world went with his death. There are several websites to check out more about him. I suggest The Unreal Allan Holdsworth facebook site, and A Thread of Lunacy on the web. I'm enjoying teaching some fine students here - still vacancies for new students - and I'm now a Band Mentor at the Gympie 'Australian Institute of Country Music'. The 'Country' will soon change to 'Contemporary'. I have a great band of High School kids there that I help each week, getting a set of good rock songs together for gigs. I'm enjoying the job very much. The plan now is to keep practicing and improving; teach more students; get the Clyde Schipke Group on track again; and no matter what, to be happy and content with past, while looking forward to the future. Cheers, all. Talk soon.

08.01.2022 Letting everyone know that Ill be being interviewed on community Radio 4NAG (93FM) tomorrow Monday from 1pm. Ill be talking about upcoming gigs at Village Fest music in general and playing some cool tracks. Hope you can tune in.

07.01.2022 We are now getting the set finalised for the Village Festival gigs. Bit of a mixture - some old Indaba tunes (Absolute Mobility, Nina, and All Rivers Long for ...the Sea), some new tunes from the Yeppoon era (This Bag is Not a Toy, Less is More), and an Allan Holdsworth Band cover - the fabulous Proto Cosmos so far. Plus some others for when the mood is right! My goodness - this is going to be such a blast! More info soon. Clyde. See more

06.01.2022 Ok...here we go! I'm letting all know that I am now doing online guitar lessons via Zoom. Straight up - my specialty area is simply knowing your instrument, and your imagination, and linking them up. I want to help people to be able to talk, laugh, cry, sigh, and weep through their instrument, and have simple fun, no matter what style they feel. I enjoy helping people who have the passion, the drive, the lust, to be a better guitar player and musician; those who are proces...s-driven. As well as Improvisation, I focus on Rhythm, Timing, Chord structure, Composition, Arranging, and Harmony. Confused by Modal theory? I'll help you with this. The Zen of Guitar playing = being able to play what we imagine. If you need more details regarding how we may apply what I know to what you want to know, and what you need to know, please give me a call. If you're interested, please call me on 0409063267. 02.01.2022 Here we go guys.... starting on 5 February in Gympie. Still some slots (ok... alot of slots) available!

01.01.2022 Here is a clip from a while ago of the original INDABA featuring me, Brad Wenham and Scott Dean (the band that will be playing at the Village Festival - just less hair, more chops!). This clip is a great example of how dynamic and tight the rhythm section of Brad and Scott is. These guys are as good as it gets when playing odd time fusion. The audio is unfortunately very quiet so turn everything up!
