23.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who sent us a written submission in relation to our third discussion paper: Future Directions for NSW Local Government, Twenty Essential Steps. We received over 800 submissions, which we are now reading in preparation for our final report, which is due by the end of September. If you want to read what people have been saying, visit our website at www.localgovernment.nsw.gov.au and click on ‘Your Submissions’.... Keep an eye on this page for further updates as we head into the final phase of the Review.
23.01.2022 We are coming to the finish of our consultations on the Future Directions paper. We will have visited 37 towns and suburbs from Lismore to Wentworth and Warringah to Broken Hill. Unfortunately we can't visit all towns in NSW to hear every community's views on the future directions for Local Government. However, we have heard from Councillors representing all communities, who have emphasised the importance of local democracy and told us what they think is needed for Local Gov...ernment to meet the challenges of the next 25 years. We have heard many views on the proposals in our progress report and we will consider these as we continue our review and start writing our final report which is due in September. It is not too late to have your say. Please visit our website at www.localgovernmentreview.nsw.gov.au and click on 'Have Your Say'. Comments on the Future Directions paper are welcome until Friday 28 June 2013.

Panel members have travelled to Bellingen, Maitland, Gloucester, Leeton, Brewarrina, Port Macquarie, Deniliquin, Moree and Parramatta to gain feedback on our third discussion paper, Future Directions for NSW Local Government: Twenty Essential Steps.
