24.01.2022 I was contacted by Lody - an elderly citizen in distress. She got a PV system installed with "free battery". Then her power went out for three days! After three days the installation company came to fix the power. They asked her for $600 CASH on the spot to fix the power. Lody asked for a receipt. They said it will be $1200 with a receipt. She opted for $600 with photos taken of the transaction. Lody has called me for advice. I will assist her to recoup her $600, make sure her system and house is working, and I'll advise that she contacts Consumer Affairs, CEC, ATO and perhaps the Police. I will provide a report stating what a fair price is for the system that she has had installed. I will not charge her.

23.01.2022 My client today was told by a prospective installer to get 5kW. After my "Size me up" analysis it turns out client needs 2kW max 3kW. That would have been a lot of wasted solar to the grid and longer return on investment.

21.01.2022 Charlie from outback NSW had three solar quotes for large systems and was confused (price/product/size was all over the place). I looked at the quotes but wasn't confused. One supplier looked excellent and recommended excellent panels, but was on the pricey side. One looked super dodgy and over priced. One looked mildly dodgy and was "too good to be true". I recommended Charlie approach the good installer and ask for less expensive panels (panels that do the job perfectly well). They obliged. After my advice, Charlie has chosen a quote $12,000 less than otherwise quoted, and avoided using two suspect installers. Short answer; my advice saved Charlie $12,000.
