16.01.2022 A life changing network to be part of. UNHCR is in the midst of an ambitious plan launching a world-first app to connect Australian women with refugee families in Jordan. The pilot test was released last month to a group of 50 Australians who took the opportunity to trial and co-create the app for the LEADING WOMENS FUND. ... The program has been running incredibly well over the last few weeks. Our group have contributed, time, energy, financial and emotional support to those families whose lives have been turned upside down due to war in their own countries. Every donation to the Fund goes directly to projects that empower women, building their resilience and providing opportunities for them to realise their potential. For its first project, the Leading Women Fund will support Syrian refugee women in Jordan. One-third of these women have found themselves alone, as head of their household, with families to support. They are struggling to survive; some are forced to beg on the streets with their children. A $3,000 donation to the Fund (or $230 every four weeks) is enough to support a refugee woman and her family for a year - enabling her to keep food on the table, her children in school and giving her the chance to plan for a better future.
