24.01.2022 Have decided not to post on a daily basis, too hard to get to the Skipper before he crashes. The majority of this week's group were from the Mt Lawley golf club and the other two were their mates from Darwin, they have joined us this week for the first time. The forecast for the week was perfect, so Monday we went to Kok's Island and fished our usual patches for pinkies. Tuesday, we tried the ground west of Bernier Island for other species and then topped up with pinkie...s. No one had landed a Red yet so Wednesday we went through the gap and fished deeper water, lots of Pearl perch and Rankins, but still no red. Thursday, another perfect day, we headed north west and hallelujah, half a dozen Red's and an assortment of fine table fish put some smiles on faces. Friday was back to Kok's Island for a pinky top up. We trolled every day for mackerel and although the water was blue and clean we didn't land one, not sure what's going on with that. On Tuesday Dennis bagged the biggest snapper for the competition measuring 670mm to the V and then bettered that by 25mm on Wednesday, so he is the current leader at 695mm. These guys were great on the filleting table, Brett didn't have to fillet a fish all week. Thanks for coming guys, some real characters, hope to see you all again. See more

23.01.2022 Lovely to have Ken and the boys back, the weather really turned it on for this week. Lots of nice fish, calm water and good humour, hard not to love your job when it's like this. Frank is leading the snapper competition with his 635mm catch that is measured to the caudaline. Thanks for your support guys, see you next June.

21.01.2022 Morning all, finally we will give you an update as to how things are going so far. The weather has been unusually inclement, we have had some lovely days but overall it has been colder and the wind has been a tad stiffer than normal. Up until last week the conditions hadn't affected the fishing with a good spattering of prize fish caught most days and all the groups taking home their 20kg, but last week was a different story, Monday was a beautiful day, flat calm and heap...s of pinkies and it went downhill from there, full moon, strong wind and current making fishing almost impossible. The forecast for this week looks good at this stage and more in tune with what we are used to here in Carnarvon. Chris Hilton is leading the snapper comp at this stage with his pinkie measuring 660 mm to the caudaline, going on past years there are still some thumpers out there. Some photos of the catch so far. We will keep you posted.

21.01.2022 Last week saw Rob Kay's crew join us again, with strong easterly winds forecast we spent the first two days north and in close. Fishing was slow but steady and the guys filled their bag with a good variety of fish. We went to the islands for the rest of the week with Friday being an exceptional day, the guys had bagged out by 11.45 with some great fish. This week Sierra has bettered Chris Hilton's pink snapper and is the new leader of the competition, his fish measured 710mm to the caudiline. Once again these guys were raving about Maree's cooking. Special mention to Chris who joined this group for the first time this year, never had filleted a fish before and received an A+ from the skipper, thanks again guys, see you next July.

21.01.2022 A few photos from week 1

19.01.2022 A couple of photos from last week.

17.01.2022 The week beginning the 26th June saw the Frizzel group join us again. The forecast for the first few days was perfect and the week showed a lot of promise. No one banked on the strong undercurrent which made fishing difficult, the sounder showed an abundance of fish but they were very reluctant to bite. By Wednesday the current had disappeared, the weather was still perfect and the boys caught a swag of fish. Thursday was pretty much a wash out with a howling southerly and seas up to 2m, we ventured out but everybody agreed it was too hard so we ventured home. Friday was a good day, winds had eased and the boys bagged out again. Our new cook Maree has obviously been keeping our guests very happy because they are all are raving about their meals. Always a pleasure to see these guys and we look forward to seeing them again.

15.01.2022 The weather gods smiled upon for the entire week as we welcomed back Rod, Bob and crew. Every day we were able to fish where we wanted, flat water and slow drifts. Guys said they had a great time, caught a nice variety of fish but their bag limit was hindered by some friendly sharks. Thanks Greg for the photos, hope to see you all again soon.

12.01.2022 We would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year, we look forward to seeing you all again soon. Brett and Chris xx

12.01.2022 Well.... our 2017 season has drawn to a close. It has been a pretty cold year by comparison and the channel closing over to Pelican Point soured the usual layback experience that we offer. Anyway, we adapted, compromised and overcame. The fishing was great despite some inclement weather with a lot of the guys landing a personal best. The Pink Snapper didn't show up in any great number this year which probably explains the larger number of Reds and Rankins that were caught, ...as well as the big Mulloway that plagued us. Clive Chapman is the winner of our Snapper competition, his specimen measured 695mm to the caudaline, plenty went close but Clive hung on. Well done mate, enjoy your free trip next year. Thank you to Maree and Danny for their efforts this year looking after our guests, it's pretty hard to beat Maree's cooking and Danny sure knows his way around a boat. We would like to thank everyone for their support this season and hope to see you all again soon. See more

11.01.2022 Hi all, we have a river, will post soon about the fishing so far.

10.01.2022 Our 2018 season drew to a close in mid September. We had three weeks at pelican point and 12 weeks at Gnaraloo station. Logistically Gnaraloo was a challenge but it was worth it. Everyone seemed to adapt and were very understanding about the difficulty of operating from such a remote location. The weather plays such a big role in the outcome of the charter and this year was the worst we've experienced in 12 years. Stiff winds, strong currents and big swells made it dif...ficult to show off our new location, however a lot of guys and girls still managed to bag a personal best. Despite the weather most were in good spirits and really enjoyed the experience, plenty of stories and laughs were had around the dinner table and camp fire at night. Our sincere thank you for your support this year and a big thanks to Mark our chef and Joel our deckie for looking after you. Photography isn't our strong point, lots of memorable moments are not captured such as hundreds of mackerel leaping 20-30 feet out of the water, a school of manta rays hanging around the boat or countless whales putting on a display, so if you have any photos you would like to share please send them to us, we have attached a few of the happy snaps that Joel managed to take. We will be back at Gnaraloo from May to August next year, hope the weather is better so we can really showcase this pristine location. Good luck, good health, we look forward to seeing you all again soon. Cheers Brett and Chris See more

09.01.2022 We welcomed our first group for the season last Sunday, Steve Gill and co, Monday was a great day, nice, warm and calm, we caught some great fish, but none better than ozzy's 11kg red. The weather turned average for the rest of the week with a couple of stiff south easters and a 4 to 5m swell restricting our movements. Despite conditions the guys still managed to land a nice mixed bag. Thanks guys for your company. We welcome back Maree as the cook again this year and Danny our new deckie comes with an abundance of experience, they are both awesome. Photos to follow.

07.01.2022 Conditions weren't favourable at the start of last week, Monday was a blow out. Tuesday wasn't a lot better and already being one day down we needed to get busy, we stayed close to the coast and went north, not a lot of variety and no mackerel at Fitzroy reef but our bag limit of fat pinkies put us well on the way. Wednesday, out to Bernier Island, a good mixed bag and a swag of pinks put us back on track but still no sign of mackerel. Thursday was a beautiful day, we ...went out through the gap, fished in 65m all day, caught some nice Rankins, big pearl perch and of course our limit of pinks although sharks posed a problem for most of the day. Friday, another perfect day, conditions were ripe for mackerel, two quick passes saw the guys land six good mackerel, the biggest went 25kg, from there we headed north west to 60m and caught another good mixed bag, from there it was east to 45m where we picked up our snapper and headed home. From an ordinary start it turned out to be a great week and the boys had a ball, they come every year and were a great help on the filleting table and we look forward to seeing them again in July next year. 07.01.2022 Friday was an average day weather wise and given that Thursday was a hard day at the office, we concentrated our efforts north of the islands where we can fish at varying depths within short proximities. Fishing was slow but steady and by day's end we had a nice box full, Lou's baldy was the prize fish of the day. Brian from the Morley bowling club got within 5mm of the biggest snapper, so Paul is still leading the comp. Banter around the filleting table is always entertaining from these guys and it continues in the packing shed, apparently next year they're bringing more guys so it will be interesting to see who gets picked on then. Thanks to everyone for coming this week, see you next year and safe home.

05.01.2022 Hi everyone, well it's nearly time again, our season starts on the 22nd May, the weathers coming good and the wind is dropping, we have been very busy preparing the boat and getting everything ready. Mark our chef has moved on, heading to Broome we believe, therefore we have a new cook, her name is Maree, she is a lovely lady and we are sure she will do a wonderful job looking after our guests. Snowy is our deckie and he comes to us with loads of experience and enthusiasm. The fishing comp is on again this year with the biggest snapper winning a free trip next season, so good luck to all, looking forward to seeing you soon.

05.01.2022 Brett and I would like to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas Day and a fantastic New Year filled with health and happiness. Cheers

04.01.2022 Sorry guys been having iPad issues, last week started out great, not a lot of wind and nice calm water, swags of pinks and lots of nice fish were caught. Tuesday night it blew up so Wednesday was a lay day, Thursday and Friday weren't much better but we braved the breeze and bagged out on the ever reliable pinks. Trish had a great time, pictured here with a nice trout and a big fat Rankin, this group have their own point system and despite her efforts she still didn't win, Rob was the eventual winner being that he was the most consistent fisher over the four days. These guys are regulars with us and we'd like to thank them for their support and look forward to seeing them again in 2017.

04.01.2022 Hi all, As you know Indian Chief has been based at Pelican Point for the past 10 years, however in the interest of those that might like something a little different we will be operating the second half of our 2018 season out of Gnaraloo Station, bookings for Pelican point will be in the months May and June and will be the same as years gone by, Gnaraloo will be July and August, we will offer a 5 night 4 day trip with guests arriving on the Sunday afternoon and departing on t...he Friday morning. Gnaraloo is a working sheep station located on the Ningaloo Reef 150km north of Carnarvon offering a fishing experience second to none. If you would like more information please contact us via email or give us a ring on 0430 281 286, you can also check out Gnaraloo on their website www.gnaraloo.com.au. Cheers Brett & Chris

02.01.2022 Happy new year everyone, may 2018 bring you health, wealth and happiness

02.01.2022 Merry Christmas everyone, may you and your families have a wonderful day, be safe. Cheers Brett and Chris

02.01.2022 Well.....what a contrast, 15-25kn winds every day made fishing for Geoff and the boys very difficult, some had travelled from the eastern states for what turned out to be a pretty disappointing week. The boys were keen so we covered a lot of miles north, west and south in challenging conditions. Despite the weather they still muscled in a nice variety of fish. Friday was cranking out at 30 knots so it was a no go. Thanks guys for coming its a shame you didn't get to experience the fishing that Carnarvon offers. This week light winds are forecast every day, it's the luck of the draw.........that's fishing.
