22.01.2022 On the lovely sunny morning of Saturday, the 22nd August 2020, Indian Support Center Inc (ISC) organized groceries distribution to the student community at the Wollongong University, Wollongong. From Sydney a team of four volunteers headed by Subba Rao Varigonda, Dr Saryu Rao, Jaspreet Chopra and Prajay Perambakkam drove in two cars to Wollongong University and by 11 am our stall was ready and students started queuing up to pick up the much-needed groceries. As everyone kno...ws the student community is the worst affected lot as a result of the COVID19 pandemic. ISC was the only stall with Indian groceries at this event, while there were other Asian stalls distributing cooked food and vegetables, tinned food etc. About 200 students (most of them from the Indian Sub-continent background) benefitted from the ISC stall. Our special thanks to Navneet and Rajeev Chaturvedi of the Indian Welfare Association of Wollongong, who coordinated with the Wollongong University in having ISC put up its stall. Also ISC thanks Ms Sneh Gupta (wife of Dr Vijay Gupta a well known family in Wollongong) for organizing a lunch at their home for the ISC Volunteers after closing the stall and while heading back to Sydney. This event has also been made possible with financial support from Multicutural NSW and ISC sincerely thanks Multicultural NSW for its support. See more
