18.01.2022 Congrats Uncle Archie for being inducted into the Aria Hall of Fame. So well deserved . You have showed that music can heal by sharing truth through story and m...usic x Nyatne from Wadawurrung country. Thanks for your music and your songs that have changed the lives of all Australians , indigenous and non indigenous, to pave the way to understand the horrific history of this country and the stolen generation. Thanks for letting me capture those many photographs of you over the years -to let me in to capture your beautiful smiling face and giving spirit. Sending you good health and happiness #forevergrateful #unclearchie @archieroachmusic #indigenous #musician #soulful #truth #storyteller #australian #aborignal #artists #aria #ariahalloffame @aria_official #music #musician #musicphotographer @nikonaustralia #nikon some of these pics were taken in my very back yard in Jan Juc and transcribed into LEGO by @aiweiwei_studio at the @ngvmelbourne for the @warholpopart Warhol Wei Wei exhibition. 10.01.2022 Let joy be unconfined, WE ARE OPEN! We are thrilled to welcome visitors back to the Gallery, and especially to our newest exhibition, Looking Through Time: Bask...etry from the TAMA Collection. The exhibition celebrates the unveiling of TAMA’s most recent acquisitions, a trio of baskets by Lisa Waup, an artist of Gunditjmara, Torres Strait Islander and Italian heritage. Looking Through Time (2017), Spirit (2015) and Mixed Bag (2019) showcase Waup’s distinctive weaving practice and highlight themes close to her heart: tracing lost history, ancestral relationships, Country, motherhood and time. Due to government guidelines, we are currently limited to 20 visitors to the gallery at a time and require contact details for visitors. To meet these guidelines and to allow for additional cleaning, we have introduced three session times for visitors each day, for which free tickets can be booked on our website. To book your free timed-entry ticket and for a full list of our coronavirus guidelines, visit our website araratgallerytama.com.au/booking/ We thank you in anticipation of your support! Lisa Waup, Looking Through Time (2017), Emu feathers, parrot feathers, lyrebird feathers, pandanus (dyed), hemp, 100% cottons, shells, kelp, kangaroo ribs, and possum fur, 20.5 x 14 x 19cm. 06.01.2022 Congratulations to Bundjalung man and Gardening Australia presenter, Clarence Slockee who has won Horticulturist of the Year 2020 awarded by the Australian Inst...itute of Horticulture Inc. "AIH considers Clarence Slockee’s contribution to our industry to be outstanding, especially his role in highlighting, supporting, and promoting the works of Indigenous youth and culture throughout the horticultural fields. Clarence’s work in the promotion and conservation of Australia’s unique habitats aligns significantly with AIH’s own activities in this field." Well done, Clarence! We're so lucky to continuously learn from and share your horticultural wisdom with the world!
