25.01.2022 Are you ready to get your mind blown? In Gabon, my local friend Patrick introduced me to the wild world of IBOGA -- a psychedelic drug that is found in the roo...ts of a special tree. IBOGA is used traditionally in Central Africa, but Gabon is the 'Tibet' of Africa in the spiritual sense, where the Bwiti culture is found Follow Drew Binsky for daily travel videos, and if you want to see my vids pop up on your newsfeed again, please go to my profile and click --> Following --> See First. Thanks! P.S. - If you are wondering, I only ate a small bite to taste it and did not feel any effect... I am not the type of person who would enjoy completely tripping out for days with no control. But I really enjoyed the rituals and learning all about it.

24.01.2022 Santalum acuminatum Quandong, Native Peach Santalum acuminatum belongs to the Santalaceae family along with the Sandalwood (Santalum album) and Native Cherries ...(Exocarpos spp.). It is commonly known as the Quandong. See more about the Quandong @ https://www.anbg.gov.au//interns-/santalum-acuminatum.html Noongar uses for Quandong Traditionally Noongar people would eat the succulent bright red fruits raw or dry it out to store for later use. The roots have edible suckers that are juicy and succulent with a bitter or sweet taste. Wongup flowers were also soaked in water to make a sweet drink. Wood was used by Noongar for shields, after which families would return to eat the raw, sweet gum that oozed from the wounded tree. Removing the outer peel uncovers a kernel which can be cracked open to reveal the nut, which is then roasted and eaten. The seeds contain oil which can be used for skin moisturising and treating skin sores. Just grind the seeds into a paste and add water. The fruit makes a tasty snack and can be made into pies, jams and jellies jams and preserves. See more about the Quandong https://www.wheatbeltnrm.org.au//bush-tucker-plant-wongup-

06.01.2022 Indigenous knowledge meets beekeeping science in Western Australia's Kimberley region. ...Ms Appleby and her husband, David, started Walaja Raw Bush honey six y...ears ago. Using an extraction facility in Broome, Mr Appleby produces anywhere between 700 and 800 kilograms of honey on a good day. "The melaleuca honey is very aromatic. It's light and sweet and it's got quite a depth of taste," he said. "But what makes this melaleuca so special is when I had it tested, the results came back with a total activity of 26.6... which is right up there with the best active honey I've been advised." Key points: - Traditional owners in the Kimberley have been using bush honey in food and medicine for generations - There has been a spike in honey sales during the coronavirus pandemic across Australia - Scientists believe some varieties of Australian honey are just as good, if not better, than NZ manuka SOURCE: ABC @ https://www.abc.net.au//wach-bush-honey-indigeno/12307510
05.01.2022 JABUTICABA Brazilian grapetree, jabuticaba, is a tree in the family Myrtaceae. Common in Brazilian markets, jabuticabas are largely eaten fresh; their popularit...y has been likened to that of grapes. Fresh fruit may begin to ferment 3 to 4 days after harvest, so they are often used to make jams, tarts, strong wines, and liqueurs. Due to the short shelf-life, fresh jabuticaba fruit is rare in markets outside areas of cultivation. See more
