25.01.2022 The 2020 Indigenous players map highlights the cultural diversity of the AFLs Indigenous players with the leagues 87 male players and 22 female players represented across 71 cultural and language groups. A very handy reference which shows the communities and families the players come from and their connection to country. http://www.aflplayers.com.au//afl-players-launch-2020-ind/

13.01.2022 Well done to Michael Walters and Jonathon Griffins on this achievement. Michael Walters and Jonathon Griffins Boya Group first in WA with thermal cameras to help check for coronavirus. A building and construction business owned by Fremantle Dockers star Michael Walters and former AFL ruckman Jonathon Griffin is the first WA company to implement thermal cameras to combat COVID-19. ... The technology will be used to scan workers before they enter a work site to check their temperature. The cameras, designed by German company TecTradeSolution, capture body temperature up to 45C. It also uses facial recognition to detect who the employee is and it can also identify if the person is wearing a mask. Mr Walters and Mr Griffin who established Boya Group two years ago, had help securing the thermal camera contract through a partnership with the Osborne Park-based Telstra Business Technology Centre. They said their 100 per cent Aboriginal-owned business continued to expand during the pandemic to support the States indigenous youth. I want to help create a lot of sustainable opportunities for younger kids and work with other Aboriginal-owned businesses, Mr Walters said. Mr Griffin warned that the capabilities of indigenous businesses were still questioned in WA, which made it important for Aboriginal business owners to band together and support each other in order to receive appropriate recognition. Indigenous people are definitely capable of running businesses and performing well and setting really high standards, Mr Griffin said. John ODriscoll, the Aboriginal liaison for business development at TBTC, said the centre wanted to work with the Boya Group as it had a clear pathway to provide training and recognition for WAs indigenous population. Mr ODriscoll added that round-table discussions were being organised with other Aboriginal-owned businesses to spark collaboration. The business has workplace opportunities for a range of trades, computing and technology positions, administration roles, architects, engineers and estimators.
